Over the weekend, I had plenty of time to browse the antique malls.
I spotted this stove and could not pass it by. We used one similar, but not as nice.
This boxcar is just a few miles from where I live. In time, they want to convert into some type museum.
This is an old food stamp machine. All these red stamps were in good condition. We used many S&H Greens.

LV, I forgot about S&H green stamps. When I was a little girl my mother and aunts collected stamps from A&P, they were plaid stamps. Then you could go to Plaidland and redeem them for gifts! xo,
Oh I remember those stoves. Our neighbor had one like that. The other items sure bring back memories. Great post.

That was a nice stove for it's time! The stamp machine! We used lots of S&H Green Stamps, too! Then there were the other rival stamps, I think they were yellow? I can't remember their name, maybe Top Value or something? I remember sitting over the kitchen table pasting the stamps in the books. We got a very nice pair of binoculars with them, I have them to this day!
Nice set of oldies! Good ole stamps -- mom would get behind and we'd spend a long time getting loads of stamps into their proper books.
Oh My... Those S&H Green stamps really brought back some memories, LV.... Neat!!!!
AND my Great Aunt had a stove in her home which was similar to that one...

I remember the grocery store gave out green stamps..it too forever to have enough to get something and we had to drive an hour to redeem them! but hey, it was free!

In the center of it (square part), do you put firewoods? I used to love to put them for our bath, when young.

There is a train museum north of us that has many different cars that they have restored and are in the process of restoring. It's a great place to go. They don't use a caboose anymore here on our train line. Haven't seen one in use in years, but we have rode in one at the museum. The kids got up in the cubby on top!
Love that old trading stamp machine! We used to save them! It was my job to lick them!
We had S&H and then the local stores all had their own version, too!
We got some cool stuff from them, and I loved looking at the catalog!

Oh I would love to have one of those old stoves. They are so great just for display and to play with. I think I want to cook on my more modern one though.
Wow LV love those oldies. You can gey nre reproduction stove like that....my wish. We have a caboose like that in our town square...Santa uses at Christmas.
S & H Top Value stamps...lol...we still have books of those and the catalogs to go with em!

I won 10,000 Green Stamps once, in a drawing in a local grocery store. We pored over the catalog for weeks, and THEN when we went to choose our prizes, a friend who worked there also took us into the back room, where there were one-of-a-kind things left from other times, for about a quarter as many stamps as originally.
We furnished the whole back yard that Summer, with lawn chairs and tables and plant stands and hoses, as well as four Tiki torches thrown in for good measure.
I love the things you post, except the stove makes me sad---I have one like that, a bit smaller, in about ten pieces in the potting shed---bought probably five years ago at a big "container" sale in Ohio. The bolts may be lost by now, and I still don't know where to put it.

Oh, I love this post, LV. My aunt had a wood burning cook stove, much like this one...not quite as nice.
I have always loved old box cars and cabooses. This one is amazing.
As a young married, most of our dishes and even a rocker or two came from the S&H Green Stamp Store. I was just sick when they did away with those stamps.

My grandmother had a stove very similar to the one you spotted. I remember S&H Green Stamps, but I don't recall ever seeing any red food stamps. I vaguely remember the stamps being dispensed, but I don't remember much about the machine used.

G'ma Maggie had this stove ... Mother had the S&H stamps ... Dad lived in the caboose as he worked on the RRoad.
