Sky Watch Friday No.6

Another wonderful Sky Watch Friday is here. Sit back, relax and enjoy some of the most spectacular worldwide scenes.

I hope you enjoy my contribution to this great post today. To me, this a simply magnificent sunset. It almost looks like it is on fire. This was made from the backyard of my granddaughter's house. The white fence borders their yard and the sun is setting beyond the houses behind her.

Vintage Thingies Thursday: Sport Cards

Would you like to take a step back in time? If so, join Coloradolady at Vintage Thingies Thursday. You will find our hostess and friends taking you on a trip down memory lane.

These are 1976 Sunbeam bread football cards. A limited supply of these promotional items were offered to the public. I have no clue where I got these or why I still have them. Digging around, I found them stuck back in a forgotten place.

I think you can read the team name and history on the back of each card. This one is of the Minnesota Vikings.

aChicago Bears.

Cincinnati Bengals.

St. Louis Cardinals.

Pittsburg Steelers.

Please take time out and visit with Susan, a great hostess, at A Southern Daydreamer. You will be amazed by so much beauty shown on Outdoor Wednesday.

I have a great digital camera, but it could not capture the beauty of this Texas redheaded woodpecker. My neighbor has a camera that can do most anything. This beautiful photo was taken by him.

Funday Tuesday (Coloradolady)

Coloradolady is one busy person. It does not matter how you pull, stretch or measure a day, there seems to never be enough time. Somehow at the end of the day, she manages to tie the loose ends down.

Trust my little humor put a smile on your face.

Blue Monday

Should you be having a down and out Blue Monday skip over to Smiling Sally's and she will put a smile on your face. She is the hostess of this great post and as well as other interesting topics. She has a lot of friends, but one more never hurts. Take time out and give her a visit.

This lovely little box was given to me my son and his wife several years ago. I am sure it was intended for me to use it as a jewelry or trinket box. Since I do not always do as I should, I have it hanging on the wall in my bathroom. I think it looks nice as a wall enhancement.

This is old, long dresser scarf. I folded the ends in to show the blue embroidered butterflies better.

Wishing each and everyone of my post viewers a very good and blessed week ahead.

Pink Saturday

Don your pink cloths and come enjoy a beautiful Pink Saturday with Beverly. She is hosting a "How Sweet the Sound" party, and each of you have a special invitation. There will be lots of pink surprises.

On one of my visit to a neat little mall, where they have spaces to display your wares, I saw this cute purse. It may not be one you would use on a daily basis, but I thought it was a neat little pink creation.

I know there is a regular Cancer Awareness Day. However, we do not need a special day to help this cause. This is a Pink Saturday reminder to do what you can to help find a cure.

Vintage Thingies Thursday: Special Tribute

My contribution this week to VTT hosted by Colordolady will be a little different. I trust you find it to your liking along with all the other vintage items that will be shown by her friends.

As you can tell from the information below this photo, it was originally the home of the Brooks Brothers grandmother. Since these two brothers were doctors, in 1941 they turned it into a hospital. It continued in that capacity until the latter part of 1950. Around the end of the 1940's, they started construction on a new, brick, one story building. It was not your big, up-to-date facility, but was a great improvement over the one shown here. It still stands today, but only used for administrative purposes. Both doctors are deceased.

On July 24, 1950, a precious child was born at the old home place hospital. The hospital may not have been perfect, but the baby was. The only links left to this special day is the nurse, who is 89 and in bad health, the mother 79 and the(child) man 59.

You cannot be a Texas baby boy without cowboy boots. This is the first pair this special little fellow had.

Little rubber duck that he played with when he was given baths.

His first mittens. They are a little aged, but still a treasure.

One of his first baby bottles.

All of these are wonderful treasures and memories, but nothing to compare to the child. He is now a grown man with his own family, and one of the greatest blessings of my life. He is my son. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY SON"

Outdoor Wednesday No. 1

This is my first visit with Susan, A Southern Daydreamer.I enjoy the Outdoor Wednesday gatherings, and so will you.

This is a shot I tried to make in the dark of one of my flower beds. It does not reflect all the colorful flowers too well, but just trying something different.

This a heron standing on the banks of Lake Palestine watching for fishes to appear. It is a beautiful area for outdoor life

Since I am an outdoor person, I have a lot of scenes I can share with you. Trust you will find something to your liking and visit me in the future.

The Smaller Things of Life

Sometimes the smallest, less expensive things mean as much or more than larger, expensive. I would like to share a few tiny possessions I have kept.

A friend and I went to work at the same time back in 1948. For some reason, she started calling me "chick chick", and it stuck. The tiny, little yellow chick is what she gave me back then. We have remained dear friends all these many years. And to this day, she still calls me "chick chick". I thought the tiny yellow one needed someone. I bought the other two sometime ago so it would have company.

This a miniature, plastic telephone designed after the old princess telephones. It measures 2-1/2"x1-1/4". For some unknown reason, I kept it.

I honestly do not remember why I have this. It is rather old and made in Japan. It measures 1-1/2x3/4". I think it is rather neat, so guess I will continue to keep it.

These are tiny puppy figurines. They each measure one inch. I know you all probably really think I am crazy after this post. But sometimes, being crazy is fun.

May everyone that takes the time to read this, have a wonderful, blessed week.

Pink Saturday

This is a another great visit with Beverly on Pink Saturday. Please join me and enjoy being in the pink.

This a little fish dust catcher that I have always liked. It changes colors depending on the lightening. Today it is in the pink mode.

I do not recall where I bought this little dish. I thought it was much too pretty to use, so I had it mounted on this frame. I loved the way it turned out.

I may have shown this Calla Lily before. If you have seen it, bear with it one more time, as I really think it is gorgeous. Such a pretty, rich pink.

Vintage Thingies Thusday:

I am sure most of you think you have seen lots of vintage items. If you have not had time to visit Coloradolady at Vintage Thingies Thursday, you are in for a big surprise. It is a wonderful way to share a part of the past.

While going through some old boxes and papers of my late father-in-law, I found these two prints. I thought they were so colorful and had never seen any like them. I took them and had them framed in order preserve them.

They were painted with an embossed look

Each were signed and painted in 1942. I could not read the signature. Perhaps some of you out there is familiar with the name or can read it. I have them hanging in my den and really enjoy them.
