Good Fences

Nice being a part of TexWisGirl's Good Fences.  Take a minute and drop by and see all the interesting fences.

The bridge and fence both look as they might be falling down.

Food for thought:

A careless word may kindle strife,
A cruel word may wreck a life,
A timely word may lessen stress
A loving word may heal and bless.

Rubbish Tuesday/1910 Vintage Sewing Machine

Today's rubbish/vintage feature is very special.  Trust you enjoy going back in time of a dear friend and neighbor of mine, Joyce. It involves history of a 1910 Singer Sewing Machine. Many other neat things can be found at

Joyce's, grandmother was born May 2, 1880, and passed away on July 4, 1956.  During her lifetime, she bought a Singer Sewing machine. After her death, the machine was passed around among her children, one of which was Joyce's father. Being a man, he was not interested in a sewing machine.  It traveled through Arkansas, Oklahoma, La Vegas and Texas among different family members before it finally came to rest in Oklahoma with Joyce's aunt.   It was seldom used by any of these and sometimes just in storage.

When Joyce's aunt, daughter of  her grandmother, passed away, the machine rested with Joyce's sister in Oklahoma. It has been there about ten years with no usage. Due to this sister's declining health, some of the things are being auctioned off.  Due to this situation, Joyce finally got the machine she has wanted all these years back in Texas. The following photos were taken after it arrived.

Joyce is a special 85 year old lady that enjoys sewing.  She already had a treadle sewing machine and two portables, but this one is her "dream machine".

Blue Monday

Smiling Sally

A Florida getaway on Blue Monday. I have a weird sense of humor.  What might strike me as funny would not you.  Most likely some of you have read this before.   I can just vision it and laugh every time I read it. To find more entertaining blue post go to

A couple decided to go to Florida to thaw out during a  particularly icy winter. They planned to stay at the same hotel where they spent their honeymoon 20 years earlier.

Because of hectic schedules, it was difficult to coordinate their travel  schedules.  So, the husband flew to Florida on Thursday, with his wife flying down the following day.

The husband checked into the hotel.  There was a computer in his room, so he decided to send an email to his wife.  However, he accidentally left out one letter in her email address, and without realizing his error, sent the email.

Meanwhile, somewhere in Houston, a widow had just returned home from her husband's funeral.  He was  a minister who was called home to glory following a hear attack.

The widow decided to check her email expecting messages from relatives and friends.  After reading the first message, she screamed and fainted.

The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor, and saw the computer which read:

To:  My Loving Wife
Subject:  I've arrived.

I know you are surprised to hear from me.  They have computers here now and you are allowed to send emails to your loved ones.  I've just arrived and have been checked in.

I've seen that everything has been prepared for your arrival  tomorrow.  Looking forward to seeing you then!  Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was.

P.S.  Sure is hot down here.

Pink Saturday

Have several nice rings, but nothing in pink. Back when I was young and working, thought I had to have them.  Now, I do not wear them. Surely, I am not the only Pink Saturday person that has done this. I recognize how much time and money I have spent in the acquisition of stuff.

As we get older, our priorities change. The desire to own is being replaced by the desire to live and enjoy the day.

Everyone drop by Beverly's at and see what interesting pinks you can find.

Breaking News/Coloradolady

As most of you are aware, Suzanne, Coloradolady has not been blogging for awhile. Due to circumstance beyond her control, she has not had the time. Well, to top it off, during last weeks storm, a big tree fell on their house and caused extensive damage. The major damage was roof, structural, and water between the walls. They have brought in big machines trying to pull out some of the water, but no luck.  Today movers removed their household things to storage.

Insurance company going to try and get a house trailer moved nearby for them to use while renovation is being done. That would be a good solution as she has four dogs as most of you are aware. Cannot find places that will let you have that many pets, and putting them in a kennel is out of the question. It is going to be a long, stressful and frustrating time for her. The following are her words on a post she published Wednesday in case you missed it.

"Things have been rocky here since the first of August, and seems to just have spiraled out of control to a full blown disaster.  I don't know when I will be back online, or able to blog again....and if I don't make an appearance before the first of the year, I want to wish all my blogging friends a Happy New Holiday season and a wonderful New Year."
