Pink Saturday

Welcome to another addition of Pink Saturday with Beverly. This is a very popular blog. You can check it out for yourself at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog.

I have no idea why I have kept this fan for years. Cannot even remember where I go it. One thing is for sure, I did not keep it to fan with. I never get that hot.

Pretty pinks displayed in a different way.

I would like to introduce you to a new blogger I met this week. She is Mecky from Kansas. She shares a lot interest in different things just like the rest of us. She has some really nice vintage pieces. Take time to visit her at "Kettle Korner Kottage" and welcome her into the blog family. While you are visiting her, check out her profile. There is a neat story on how she came up with a name for her blog.

Vintage Quilt

Coloradolady at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com has a wonderful Vintage Thingies feature each Thursday. She also has this thing about quilts and quilt fabric. If you have not visited her blog, you need to do so. She will amaze and surprise you.

Because of her love, as well as my own for quilts, I am showcasing one of my vintage quilts.

This is the Dresden Plate design. I bought it at an antique mall in Waxahachie, Texas.

I am not sure what year it was made. It had to have been years ago, as they do not hand piece or hand quilt like this anymore. Notice the tiny detail quilting stitches.

Blue Monday

These Blue Mondays seem to roll around much faster each week. They are really a pleasure though as we get to visit with Sally at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com. She always has a blue welcome mat out for us.

This pretty blue hen was painted by the artist shown on this vintage plate.

To prove I am not "chicken", here I come and you better get out of my way. As you can, see my great grandson and his daddy gave me space. We were wearing blue jeans with a bright blue sky as a background. My first go-cart experience.

Tickled Pink Saturday

I always look forward to Pink Saturday with Beverly. She shares some of the best pinks ever right here http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog.

Either one of these could tickle you pink if used in a different way.

Speaking of being tickled pink, I was certainly that way this week. I was featured on "A Delightful Life". Each week six blogs are chosen for being inspiring. I was one of the honorees. It was as a nice surprise. Believe me, I was one happy camper. Kathy at http://blissfulrhythm.blogspot.com is the hostess for this event. Please take the time to visit her and see why she chose the six of us for inspiration. Perhaps one of the six will share something that will be a blessing to you. She has a very nice blog with something of interest to us all.

Vintage Thingies Thursday

We have made it over "hump" day and into Vintage Thursday. Coloradolady at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com invites you to join her for a wonderful vintage show.

These depression 1930-1940 cobalt blue sugar and creamer were made by Hazel-Atlas. They were gas station giveaways back then. The design on it is called "Chevron".

This is a matching footed salt shaker. The lid was so rusted, I threw it away. I guess the pepper shaker got lost somewhere along the way.

"UNCERTAIN"

It is Outdoor Wednesday again. I am taking Susan, at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com, and all of you to a place in East Texas.

There are several versions as to how this little place got the name "Uncertain". One was because steamboat captains on their way to Jefferson, Texas in the earlier days had trouble and were "uncertain" where to moor their vessels. Regardless, what is factual, "Uncertain" was incorporated in 1961.

One of the few cafes in the area. I am sure you will find something to your liking on these menus.
"Uncertain" is located on Caddo Lake. There is a visitor center, camp grounds, boat docks, and great fishing.

Caddo Lake is Texas' only naturally formed lake, created in the late 1800s. when Red River broke through a logjam covering more than 2600 acres across the Texas-Louisiana border with water.

Water lilies carpet the surface of the lake.

This was at one time Dick & Charlies Tea Room.

These are bald cypress threes over 400 years old. These gray strands of moss covering so many trees was used for stuffing seats of the Ford Model T.

There are 200 species of birds, like this blue Heron.

Valentine Blue Monday

Come on everyone and join me for a Blue Monday Valentine party. Sally at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com has everything ready and waiting our arrival.

I spotted this truck going down the highway in front of me. The thing that caught my eye was it had a blue back with a heart in the middle. Driving and trying to get this shot was not easy. What we won't do for a Blue Monday feature.

I am sure some of you ladies received valentine greetings similar to this. However, mine was different. Each Saturday my sister and I spend our quality time together. We start the morning off with breakfast. Today (2-12) we went to Joe's Coffee Shop. We had been here before and enjoyed it. The place was packed with Saturday eating out folks. I have a little card that gives me a 20% discount on meals and other things.. When I went to pay, I gave the cashier (a man), the ticket and this card. He told me I did not need that. I thought perhaps what we ordered did not apply for its use. I then handed him my money. He stated you do not need that either. "Happy Valentine ladies". I went into shock and so did my sister. Why he picked us out of all the people there, still puzzles me. This just not happen very often. After I got my wits back together, I asked him could I give him a hug. He very graciously consented. We were truly blessed by a kind and caring gentlemen. He made our Valentine day!
