Jewels for Vintage Thursday

To start 2011 off with Coloradolady and her Vintage Thingies Thursday, taking you back to the 50s. I am sure with all the gifts received during the past few days, there will be a lot of vintage things to see at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com.

I received this jewelery box in the 50s. It is all leather and still in good condition.

These are some little pins that have been given to me over the years. Back a few years, everyone was not "dressed" until you had on a pin of some sort. Not as many seem to wear them today.

These are real cultured pearls from the 50s. I love them. As you can see, the clasp is back when they were making the filigree design.

One of my smaller watches from years back. I no longer wear it as I have a hard time seeing the time.

These are great - my older sister had the same jewelry box in white when we were growing up. You brought back some memories for me today.

So fun! I just received a small pin in the shape of a bird in flight.I treasure this one,as it belonged to a birding friend who has recently passed away.

LV, I love this! My mom had one and I have it now. I have it put away for safe keeping all full of her pearls and wonderful Sarah Coventry earrings.
There are even some baby teeth in there.
Your's is a lot fancier than mom's. Just look at all those cubby holes.
The top bee pin and maybe the next one looks like Avon pins. My grandma sold Avon years ago and got these pins for top sales in her area. Did you sell Avon?
Thanks for sharing all that fun!

Beautiful LV. You are so right about the pins. I use them on my mixed media art sometimes. Do you have a little button with a flower on it on your digital camera? That is what you use for the macro shots.

Oh Honey---You were UP in the world with that fancy-dancy jewelry box. I had one too--but mine wasn't nearly as fancy.... BUT--I also had pearls and lots of pins.

Cute post.

I had a jewelry box exactly like this!!! And several pins similar. I collected animal pins as a child, everyone wore pins back then. I still have some jewelry with the filigree clasp, too. Thanks for the trip back in time!

The watch reminds me of the one my grandmother always wore.. good memories, i remember holding her wrist and admiring her watch as she would try to teach me to tell time.

I have my mother's jewelry box (actually, 2 of them) but, I guess I didn't have one of my own. Don't remember it, anyway. :)

I remember the pin craze. We all loved them and I still have a few, somewhere.

Thanks so much for showing this lovely piece from the 50's.

I adore that jewelry box and am so happy to say I have one as well, given to me as a teenager after admiring my own mother's from the 60's!

I too will try and find one to give to MY daughter ... love the pale blue color of yours, I might try to find one like it!

Gorgeous pins, LV! My mom had this jewelry box in pink- it was given to her when she graduated high school. I used to love opening it up and exploring all the nooks and crannies while rediscovering all my favorites in her jewelry collection. Happy VTT and PS- I love the new blog look!
