ARE YOU A QUITTER?

DON'T QUIT NOW

WHEN things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest if you must, but-don't you quit

Life is queer with its twists an turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a fellow turns about

When he might have won had he stuck it out.

Don't give up though the pace seems slow

You may succeed with another blow.

Often the struggler has given up

And he learned too late when the night came down,

How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

It may be near when it seems afar;

So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit

It's when things seem worst the you must not quit.

LV,
My grandmother had this poem on a card and when I sat beside her in church I would always root through her pocketbook during the sermon and would read this poem. I have it memorized and recite it as needed. Thank you for the reminder and NO, I'm not a quitter; happy to say :)

This sounds like something Edgar Guest might have written. He was my nana's favorite poet. It does seem very appropriate in these trying financial times.

What would we do without you? Thank you for the encouragement. 2010 was a hard year of loss and sickness. It seems hard to pick up and try again. I'm thankful for your sweet reminder.
