Today's Blue Monday with Sally may not leave you smiling. It involves a lot of sorrow and how the families have handled it. It may be hard to find at times, but good can be found even in the darkest hour. Click Sally's button for other blues.
GARDEN OF ANGELS
Several years ago, a nineteen year old girl was murdered in this area. She was on her way to work when attacked and killed by two co-workers. Some of you from around here will remember it very well. As a result of this incident, it is amazing how so many families from everywhere have come together and formed a memorial park. I had not seen it until recently.
The family of the girl placed a single, white, wooden cross where she was murdered. Sometime later, another person was murdered and another white cross was placed. Slowly, the park was filled with many white crosses of other murdered victims. This was the beginning of "Our Garden of Angels" memorial. This is the first and only homicide memorial park in the United States.
A plaque has been mounted and states:
"The Garden of Angels is not a place of death but a place representing life. Love radiates from these very surroundings filling the night with wonderful happy memories of a time when these voices spoke with laughter and joy"
There were a lot of blue flowers.

This is beautiful, thank you for sharing!
Gosh, this s awful! Do you live in a very bad area? Was there a motive why the first girl was killed, or just a predator? All in this little graveyard gone violently and way before their time!
O my goodness! So many in one area! Unbelievable! But such a lovely memorial to these lives!
This is awful. How many years does this span cover? Has anyone been apprehended?
I pray the families find peace!
What a tragedy.
May all murdered victims rest in peace. It's my first time to know a homicide memorial park.
Thank you for the story, LaVoice. It is good for us to remember the horrors of life, so that we can better appreciate the beauty.

Thanks for sharing your blues. What a shame that so many have died.
Happy Blue Monday, La Voice.
Beautiful shots.
My Blue Monday.
I have never heard of this before, what a gorgeous place though. The flowers are striking. The blue color is lovely. What a shame they had to create such a place. We have had to many to number of senceless murders here in KC too over the last several years.

This garden of angels is a place of love in spite of the tragic circumstances that led to the creation. Thank you for telling us about it.
Oh my that is sad. I am glad they have a beautiful Memorial though.
Such a kind and caring tribute! I am appalled how our world is turning to more and more tragedy and no one wants to do anything about it! Anyone in a position to do anything about it I should say!
The crosses are a good reminder that a greater force is waiting with open arms to take us to our heavenly home once we surrender to Jesus! My heart breaks for the families! Thank you for sharing and I hope you feel better soon.
