Vintage Thingies Keepers

Welcome to Coloradolady's first vintage post for the New Year 2013.  After Christmas, I am sure some of her friends received some interesting vintage items.  Let's go check them out at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com.

I am trying to start the New Year off with a clean slate(closets) so to speak.  I have cleaned out one closet and donated so many bags of clothing, etc.  However, I have three items that I just cannot seem to let go, even though I do not wear them.

This  is LACOSTE Alligator jacket.  I think they were called a bomber jacket back in the early 70's. My husband I went to Branson, Missouri for a vacation.  It turned a little cool and I needed a wrap. There was an outlet mall nearby that carried this.  This brand of clothing was a big thing back then. I thought I was really in high cotton wearing one.It is in perfect condition and still the right size.

This sweater has been with me since 1967. I drag it out every year at Christmas time and wear it.  However, this is one year I failed do so. My family thinks I have worn it enough.

These are genuine leather, real fur lined gloves I have had since the late 60's. One of my dearest friends gave them to me for Christmas that year. Since she moved out of state, I do not see her often.  They are very special to me.

Happy New Year LV! What a collection of treasures. No wonder you decided to keep them. So many special memories with your pieces. I have my favorites I save when I gather clothes for shelters. I think it's ok we do!
Hope you are keeping warm on these cold January days. Wow, I still find it hard to believe it is January.........

LV That Lacoste bomber jacket would still fly right off a rack. That brand is back big time and it's quite sought after. (Especially the vintage stuff) So it's still "in high cotton" these days. =D

The sweater is unique and makes for a perfect Christmas sweater. At least it has the "Jolly" sort of feel to it.

Those gloves are lovely, VERY LOVELY!! I would not get rid of them either.

I think it's great that you have kept these treasures and still use them. I dislike the "throw away" attitude of so many today. I say, keep enjoying these wonderful items........Sarah

Wow 1941. Isn't that the year second world war broke out? I could be wrong. But I'm sure that's my mother's birth year. I think it's okay to keep some things and not give them away even though we don't use or wear them.

I think my favorite are the gloves. If you keep clothes long enough, they always come back around in style again. Usually with me that happens about a week after I have gotten rid of something!

oh i remember those bomber jackets! i would think you could still be wearing it and you would still be in high cotton! :) the gloves are so pretty and unique ... i would wear them until they wore out ... especially since they were given by someone special to you ... and the sweater i think is PERFECT for a new year celebration ... if your family is tired of seeing it on Christmas ... then wear it next year on New Year's Eve! :)

Hi LV, I love your vintage clothes you shared. Especially the pretty sweater. It is never out of style and I would wear it gladly. Smile. I also have a Christmas sweater from my daughter that I wear every year. It has sentimental value for me too. So I say keep the things you love. I started to clean my closets too. Where do I get all the clutter? smile.

Did I tell you how much I loved the email you sent me? Thank you.

Wishing you a wonderful 2013 my sweet friend.
Love, Jeanne.

It's funny what we hang onto. If it's not in excess, why not? That sweater by the way is exactly my age! Looks a little livelier and brighter than me tonight, but I say hang on to that one. It was good year! :)

Happy New Year, I can see why you can't let go of some things,I'm the same. Last year I did bite the bullet and took heaps out of my wardrobe and packed them away in a box. If I don't miss them this season, they are going. LOL. Thank you for visiting me Good Luck in my Give away. xx

What a creative idea for a post! I have items like that saved away too. One is a football jersey and another is a t-shirt. Both were my husband's in high school and they remind me of those early years in our friendship. He's told me several times that I can toss them out but I don't think I ever will! :)

Blessings to you and HaPpY vInTaGe ThInGiE tHuRsDaY!
