Vintage Dipper

We are experiencing some much cooler weather here(Texas), but still no rain. Perhaps if you visit Coloradolady at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com you can find great vintage items and possibly rain.
Lots of vintage things around this little blue, enamel dipper. I have drank lots of water from a dipper, but do not recall one like this.

Big old bottle and telephone sign.

Lovely old blue dipper. Can you believe I went out yesterday with my neighbor to four antiques shops and didn't buy a thing. So no new vintage to show today.

I too have drunk out of many dippers all through the years --but never a blue one... That one has been around for a long long time--hasn't it????? Wonder how many people used that old dipper???

Betsy

Think where that old dipper has been and what it was used for... and how many people use it. What history in an old piece of like this.

Hello LV, I remember my mom using a dipper like this. When we lived on the farm we had an old fashioned well over an old sink in the kitchen We also had an updated sink with running water. There was a pan with water in it at all times and we used a dipper to fill our cups with water. I love the blue enamel on his one. I love the quote too.
Love you,
Jeanne

I realize that I'm telling my age, but I well remember going to my grandparent's house and drinking from the dipper in the old bucket that hung on their porch. We never worried about germs back then.

My grandmother had a dipper by the water bucket at her back door. No I didn't worry about germs and the water tasted great. Thanks for the memory.

Imagine the stories that dipper could tell! You always find the neatest things.

I remember growing up in the
60/70's at my Great-Grandpa's farm the old water pump, but it was an aluminum dipper not a fancy enamelware. You have a pretty vignette there.

I remember as a kid, we would go over to my great's house and she had in the hall a water bucket and a dipper to drink from. Back then we never gave it any thought about drinking after each other....that was just the way it was. But not today. So this brought back memories for me. Blessings.

Those are very lovely LaVoice - and remind me of some great old kitchens I used to hang around in!

I was thinking of Skywatch Friday though and I was expecting a different kind of dipper (I thought you'd been out stargazing ;>)
