HALLOWEEN PINK SATURDAY

Our visit with Beverly today will be a little different. She is having a Pink Saturday Halloween party. No telling what exciting things you will see. Check it out at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog.

The observance of Halloween, which dates back to Celtic rituals thousand of years ago, has long been associated with images of witches, ghosts and vampires. Over the years, Halloween customs and rituals have changed dramatically. Today, Halloween is celebrated many different ways, including wearing costumes, children trick or treating, carving pumpkins, and going to haunted houses and parties.

Trick or Treat!
The estimated number of potential trick-or-treaters in 2009 across the United Sates was 36 million.

Total Production of Pumpkins!
931 million pounds
Costumes rented!
1,814 in 2008 across the nation.

The only way I will observe Halloween, is sharing shots of this spider and his web. The web was huge and in a big circle, but it does not show up in my picture.

Happy Pink Saturday LV Sweetie...
How cute that you would share a piece of me in your post. Come look at mine. You will love it today. You are in it.

As always sweetie you have a beautiful post. You just keep getting bigger and better each week. Love all the facts, as I hadn't really thought of it. Thank you for sharing sweetie.

Now that spider really scares me. I don't like spiders at all. No way.

Have a FUN Halloween, and don't forget to check your candy before you eat it. I love you sweetie.

Happy Pink Halloween, Many hugs and much love, Sherry

I'm not a big fan of Halloween either. Those facts were interesting. I can't believe people rent their costumes! Happy Pink Saturday.

I prefer the part where it's for little children and they dressed up like cute things not scary ones. I loved everything you posted and that spider picture was great.

Cool web, well I can see a little because the web is shining. My friend invited me to a party but I am a little scared.

Amazing statistics! And a little incomprehensible to me - Halloween isn't quite as big a deal in Australia! It's interesting that this celebration seems to revolve around such scary things!

Happy travels!!

Happy Pink Saturday, dear LaVoice.

That spider web is huge, and I can see some of it in your photo. My son did his first science project about spider webs. That was many years ago when he was in kindergarten.

I think Halloween is fun, and I enjoy seeing all of the little ones that come to our door.

Hi LV, great post today. My post today is all PINK no Halloween. I don't mind all the fuss over Halloween as long as it's just fun and doesn't involve the devil. Have a wonderful weekend, Nan

Great pics of the spider, he is scary looking, love his web, such a work of art! Thanks for the info on Halloween, it sure has changed since I was a kid...We always made our own costumes, now its all about dressing like a rock or movie star. We always get a lot of trick or treaters in our neighborhood and this year we had a lot of teenagers. I think it should be for the ages of 12 n under.

That is one spooky spider!! Happy Halloween LV! We'll be taking my little one out trick or treating, while the boys hand out the candy.

Lovely entry. As for the spider, I like the effect very much! Although in actuality, I like spiders. Anything that eats biting insects is a friend of mine!

Aren't spider webs beautiful? I love to watch a spider spin his web, but I do not really like the little critters!!!

One year one of our granddaughters bent to look at a spider in the garden that I was showing her....a little later she complained of something in her ear...the flashlight came out...no one could see anything, but this little girl is not a complainer and her Mom knew something was not right...it took a second doctor in the emergency room to flush out a very large spider. We know it was the spide in the garden that must have crawled up her long hair as she bent to catch a glimpse of him in his web...Yikes!!!!!
Happy Pink Saturday
Happy Halloween

Happy Pink Saturday to you!
It is funny, my kids and I were talking about the traditions around Halloween the other day - and yes they dress up and go out but I don't get quite as caught up in it as some people do and I refuse to have things like "grave yards" on my property -
I like your spider photos. I think spider webs are amzing pieces of art. :-) so long as they are not in my house that is!

Sometimes we don't think about the History of an event, so I welcomed your info on Halloweem. I'm not a big fan of Halloween, I just have to pretend I like it because of the Kids.
I loved your Post , thanks for stopping by and for sharing. Have a wonderful Day!

The scariest thing I have seen is that spider. We have had a real black widow and another big spider visit us this week - how thoughtful of them for Halloween! YIKES!!
