Vintage Accessories

Coloradolady and her Vintage Thingies Thursday is always a pleasure to visit. I find it fascinating to see all the vintage things that are shared. Take a minute and check them out at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com.

These vintage jewels are my sisters. They are very, very old and originally belonged to her mother-in-law back in the 30's.
My sister and her husband married October 1949. This necklace is the very first piece of jewelry her husband gave her. She kept it all these years.
I have had this vintage mesh gold tone snake belt since the 70's. I wore it a lot in those days. It has two pretty blue snake eyes and looks as new as ever. I think it is a Whiting Davis product, but cannot remember for sure.
I tried to get the pretty little blue eyes, but digital and I just could not get them to show up.

Those old pieces have a charm that no new one can match.

If that is a Whiting Davis, it is worth some good money, LV. Love the sil's pieces. Don't you love the old family pieces?

Merry Christmas ~

What lovely pieces, and what memories they must carry!! I was always enchanted when my Mammaw would let me look into her drawer with the few little boxes of her pretty things. The sparkle and the shine, and the clever little shapes of the brooches were so beautiful, and I can almost smell the Coty face powder right now.

And I can just SEE that snake belt, on a smart black or brown dress, around your tee-ninecy little waist!

Hope all is well and warm where you are!!

Oh LV, I have missed you so much. I injured my hands and wasn't able to visit since Thanksgiving. I fell and broke my fall with my hands. Ouch!!! X-rays showed no broken bones but they have been very painful. I am much better now.

Your sister's jewelry is such a wonderful treasure. How awesome that her MIL left them to her. Every piece is so lovely. I love that you shared them with us today.
Love, Jeanne

I adore vintage jewelry!!! The pieces just have a certain charm about them!! Each piece I see reminds me of the days when ladies dressed like ladies. Each piece of jewelry would surely have some stories to tell if only they could speak. :)

I am pretty sure that I had that snake belt and wore it often...must have been 1972. Great, nostalgic post!

Ooh...you have some pretty pieces. I like knowing you cause you always make me smile here! :)

I have lots of Avon jewelry pieces. They are costume pieces but have held up beautifully through the years.

Would you like to have some of those pieces Liz Taylor owned? Wow! She had the real good stuff!

I think your sisters necklace is a gorgeous vintage piece. Very feminine and pretty.

I like your other pieces here too.
You are quite stylish!

What beautiful jewelry and memories, LV. I like that little airplane pin. It was probably quite the modern thing in its time :)

Beautiful jewels, LV! The Whiting Davis company is in Plainville, MA, a few towns over from me. When I was in high school in the early 70's many Seniors went to Whiting Davis on a work program, where they went to school half a day and then to work. One of my sisters worked there!
