Vintage Post Stamp Quilt

Coloradolady is the one that always shares lovely quilts. A big difference is she makes hers and I buy mine. However, today for Vintage Thingies Thursday,it is my turn. If you go to http://coloradolady.blogspot.com you will find some of the most unusual and interesting vintage treasures.
This is definitely a vintage quilt. I bought it at an estate sale for $20 which was a bargain when it comes to quilts. It is all hand pieced and hand quilted. I cannot image the patience and time that went into making it. It is a nine-patch postage stamp design.

The back of the quilt.

It has a few imperfections, but not too many. I am going to try to fix some of them.

Love this post about quilts, LV.
My mom could make some beautiful ones and she made quite a few for the family. I have made a few but they are very, VERY plain and simple...most are 9 patch.
Quilting is hard to do and I've never tried to hand quilt them.
hugs, bj

It is lovely, and I like the colors, and that pop of yellow for the binding.

Oh, can you imagine?

I patched the quilt of a friend, whose grandmother had made it. Talk about biting off more than I could chew! Took me almost a full year, but he was so happy when I was done it was completely worth it.

Greetings from Minneapolis!

I love that pattern!

There was one like that my great-great grandma made that my grandma could tell me every dress that she had as a little girl that was in it. (I think my brother got that one)

Oh, if the quilt could talk, huh? Beautiful find, LV, just beautiful!

Wow---to get that vintage quilt for $20 is a huge deal... I used to shop for old quilts with a good friend (who now lives in Colorado)... They were hard to find --and when we would find them, they were be quite expensive. I say you got a GREAT DEAL... SO pretty!!!!

Betsy

I have one like this that my great grandmother pieced together. Looks like a lot of the same fabric. I had it quilted after my grandmother passed away. I found it in the top of the guest room closet.

Quilts like this one sell for hundreds on E-bay. You got yourself one heck of a deal. *smile*
The quilt itself is Absolutely Gorgeous!! I love looking at all of the fabric designs... it's just so bright and cheery.

I hope one day I come across one like yours. I think it would take me a decade to make one myself. lol
