FIRST,FIFTH, FOREVER

April 5th has arrived. This is the day we honor someone with a card. Coloradolady is the hostess for this First,Fifth,Forever show. During the month of March, I sent two birthday cards and a get well. The person I am honoring today had her birthday April 2.

1949

2010

This lady and I have been friends since we stared to work in 1949. We started on the same day for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. In order to determine who would have more seniority, they had to go back and look at the date we filled out our application. I won out on that. She is such a good christian lady. She lives a life pleasing to God. Her favorite saying is "God Be The Glory", and favorite hymn is "It Is Well With My Soul". Over the years, our lives have taken different paths, but we never lost touch. Having her as a friend all these years has been a blessing to me.

This is the card I sent her along with her dollar. In her case, it was more than just one dollar.

We kept in touch all these years by writing or sending cards. Now, we talk more often by phone. One of the benefits of our retirement is free long distance. I see her at least two or three times a year. She turned 86 on her recent birthday.

I absolutely love her saying and song! What a wonderful praise that you have been able to stay in touch all these years.

My father in law was retired from SWB/ATT I remember how wonder it was that he was going to get free long distance calls. We would call them and they would call us right back.

Have a blessed Day

I think it is amazingly wonderful that you have kept in touch with her all of these years. How neat!

I also love the hymn "It Is Well With My Soul". Makes me think of my parents taking me to church every Sunday. ;-)

Such a sweet post! Both of you are so lucky to have a friendship like that. As you told the story I imagined both of you going to work in 1949. She also shares a birthday with my grandmother who turned 74 on April 2. Happy Birthday to your friend.

What a wonderful thing this is... to stay connected with someone for so long. I think that's quite something.
I hope that my friends and I stay connected into our 80's and 90's.
It shows why writing is so important. You didn't have all the convenient ways to communicate that we have now.
Hope you both live way beyond 100. Thanks for an uplifting post.
