Vintage Thingies Thursday

We have made it over "hump" day and into Vintage Thursday. Coloradolady at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com invites you to join her for a wonderful vintage show.

These depression 1930-1940 cobalt blue sugar and creamer were made by Hazel-Atlas. They were gas station giveaways back then. The design on it is called "Chevron".

This is a matching footed salt shaker. The lid was so rusted, I threw it away. I guess the pepper shaker got lost somewhere along the way.

These are beautiful, I love the color!! I remember when you used to get really nice things just for filling up at a gas station. Steak knives, gold trimmed glasses, and they came running out and cleaned your windshield and checked your oil, all with a big smile!!

That saltshaker would make a darling little vase. I love cobalt blue and square items. So cute.

LV, I've seen cobalt sugar and creamers like this in antique stores before, and they cost a fortune! I remember when gas stations had giveaways in the 60s too. We'll never see that again, will we?!

Those are so pretty. I think some of the older items focus more on beauty, than todays things do.

The blue in these pieces is certainly pretty. They would be good candidates for Blue Monday as well.

Oh, LV, I love these. Thanks for sharing them today. I used clean house for a nice lady named Yvonne, and she had the biggest collection of cobalt blue glass that I have ever seen. Thanks for bringing her to mind!

God bless,

Kathy

Blue glass is so attractive. I don't remember gas station giveaways but I do remember others - like Tony the Tiger glasses in cereal and stuff. Or dishes in powdered detergent.

Wow! I am always amazed when I hear about all these neat things that they used to give away. Nowadays, companies don't give anything away.
