Vintage Thingies Thursday-Week One

Since school is out, it is time for a vacation. For the next four weeks with Coloradolady, we will be enjoying vintage sights of Hollywood. CA.

Back in the 30s and 40s these were called "Postcard Postcards". They were inside a folder, that I no longer have. I found these stuck at the back of drawer. My, how times have changed!

I've never been there. It would be so much fun to see all of those sites.

Those shots are most fascinating! I wonder if they are still accurate.

Oh what a beautiful era though! I have never been to California- muchless Hollywood and probably will never go, there are too many other places on my "wish list".

So I love to look at pictures and beautiful postcards like these and imagine that it is still this romantic place with fine dressed men and women doing fancy things at fancy places.

Thanks for sharing such delightful images this week!

Postcard Postcards? I have many of those from when my dad was in the Service - some from Georgia all attached inside the 'postcard' - with the word FREE written over where you'd stick the stamp. Must be servicemen got to mail them at no cost to their family members??

These are so nice. Ilove the artwork on them. I have a couple of them from my husband's grandfather's trunk. They were art in the mail.

I remember those postcards, LV.... My parents kept postcards ---so somewhere in my stash, I have a bunch of postcards similar to yours. Oh --I love to think about all of the memories.

I never heard those called "postcard postcards." My favorite is the picture with the lights and old cars.

Uh, oh, I recognize some of those places. Cool postcards.

I was just reading your comment on a blog about farms, and mules, and plowing. Since I always SO enjoy your blog and memories, I'd like to feature YOU on Pink Saturday, and reprint your mule plowing memory comment.

These postcards were interesting to me. I was born and raised 100 miles north of Hollywood. I was trying to place where some of these pictures were. Most of Hollywood has changed, and not so romantic as pictured in these cards. Beautiful vintage old cards!

Old postcards are wonderful. They open up conversation, send one's thoughts back to a treasured time, and make one wish for travels in the future.
I wish more people would send postcards today!
