Pink Saturday

Today is the third Christmas Pink Saturday with Beverly at How Sweet the Sound. At her request, we share our favorite traditions.

My favorite holiday tradition was going to "Pama's"(my grandmother) house Christmas eve. Along with my sisters and several other nieces and nephews we spent the night waiting for Santa. It was very cold and there was no heating system. My "Pama" would heat brick and put them in the bed to warm it for us. We were made to go to bed early. We all slept in the same bed. Trust me, it was nothing like the children shown below. The next morning, Christmas day, the gifts were opened. That tradition has been handed down for many generations. However today, circumstances will not always allow that to happen. To me, it still seems the right thing to do, open gifts on Christmas day.

This is my Christmas cactus. I have had this plant several years. This is first time it has bloomed to this extent. Each little branch has a bud or bloom. I was so happy it decided to really show off in full bloom.

Vintage Thingies Thursday

Another showing of one of my vintage Christmas keepsakes. Trust you enjoy seeing him. But if not, stop by Coloradolady and see all the Vintage Thingies Thursday she and her friends have to offer. There will much for you to enjoy.

This is a little Royalite Jolly Christmas, hard plastic bubble light Santa Claus. He is 8" tall and in excellent condition. My sister and I were each given one of these little Santas by our mother in 1950.

I elected to use a little light bulb as opposed to the bubble light. The light works great on mine, but my sister's does not. In all her work related moves, his light got broken. She still puts him out at Christamas as I do. She puts a light bulb in his back to light him up.
Still attached is the original red electric cord. Again, my sister's does not have this cord either.
