This is definitely not the highway to heaven. In rush hour, it is more like the highway to that other place. At least, we have pretty blue skies most of the time surrounding I-30 in Fort Worth, Texas

Hummel Vintage Thursday

out on some of the best vintage finds ever. Coloradolady invites you to stop by and say hello.

The year 1935 marked the debut of "M.I. Hummel" figurines.  The trademark in use at the time was the "1923 Wide Crown WG. This trademark was the first ever used on an "Hummel" figurine.  Figurines bearing the above trademark were manufactured
between 1935 and 1937. I am fortunate enough to own two of these little jewels.

This is "Hum 63, "Singing Lesson. If you notice he bears the 1935 trademark.

This is "Chick Girl" Hum 57.  There have been other variations of her made, but this one is from the 1935 series.

I have several Hummels I will be sharing in future posts. However, these two are my most vintage.

Remind me to forgive myself

when senior moments come along.

Provide a time for exercise so

these old bones stay fit and strong.

Lord, keep my attitude upbeat and

free from worry, cares, and fears.

Each day, help me appreciate the

gift and goodness of my years.

Spotted this pink dresser in an antique mall awhile back. I am sure it was some kind of nice wood that has been painted.

Saw this pink rose shade on a lamp that would have looked nicely on the dresser. However, it was not in the same booth.

Vintage Thingies Thursday

A cold and damp day on Vintage Thursday in Texas today. However, I am sure Coloradolady will have some warm and welcoming sights for us at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com.

This little girl and her doggie friends are from the Goebel group. One of many things I thought I needed back in younger times.  Not sure, but think I bought it at an estate sale back in 1982. She was originally molded in 1954 as shown below.

This is the marking on the bottom of the figurine.

Since I did not know exactly what I had purchased (just liked it), I wrote the Goebel Company for their opinion.  The above letter is their response.

Tuesday With MeMe

Each morning God gives us a rose.  Some of us will spend the day complaining about the thorns.

Sometimes we all need to step outside our normal element and do something different. Try it and have a grand old time.

It does not feel good when you realize you pay more for a postage stamp today than it used to cost to see a matinee movie.
