Vintage Thingies Thursday

This has been a great year for Vintage Thingies Thursday. Sadly, today will be the last visit with Coloradolady for 2009. No doubt 2010 will be even more exciting for us all. Looking forward to seeing you then.

This is a little Batman night light. I have had it a very long time.It burns all the time. It was made in 1966 by the General Electric DC Comics Inc. It is only 1/4 inch wide and shows a number on the back 924B. Some treasures you hang onto but know not why.
This is no way a vintage item. However, the owner of this quilt fits that category quite well. I had a wonderful, blessed Christmas However, this quilt is a most prized gift. When someone with a very busy life and schedule, takes time to hand make me something, IT IS SPECIAL.

I was told this was the backing of the quilt. To me, it is just as lovely as the front of the quilt. I will use it both ways. It is like I have two quilts in one. These pictures in no way show the real beauty and work of this quilt.
As you may have figured out, one of our blogging buddies just learned to make quilts this year. Now that she knows what she is doing, she has gone quilt wild. She made five for the holidays. I was one of the fortunate ones on her list.

She did not stop after the quilt. She took scraps from the quilt, cut them in very small stripes and made a guilt ornament. How clever is that!

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart Coloradolady.

Vintage Thingies Thursday

Made in 1970's.

A 2009 Christmas Vintage Thingies Thursday with Coloradolady.

These are little fold out holiday decorations that I received from a bank. Back in the early 70s, we had an account with this bank. Each year for five years, I received a different one of these. After the fifth one, the bank changed names and the new bank stopped giving these. I have kept them assembled all these years as I really like them.

Trust Santa will be good to you. Blessings and good blogging for the rest of the year.

Secret Santa Soiree

Beautiful holiday ornament from box.

Santa arrived early at my house last week. His bag was so full from my Secret Santa. This special lady knows very little about me, but yet she picked gifts for me as if she had known me forever.(information sheet I furnished was not the best) My Secret Santa really blessed me with her caring and sharing this time of the year. I know no words that could convey how much I love everything, and truly appreciate it all. Thank you Secret Santa again for your kindness and generosity.

NOW FOR THE SHOWING:

First, she sent me a $15 gift card from Amazon.com to use as I saw fit. They had so many things to select. I chose this book as I have not read it. I love to read, and have read all the books written by Nichols Sparks. I never really expected anything else as the gift card was within the buying guidelines.

Was I in for a surprise and shock. I received a heavy box with the following:

This handy little bag contained

Heart ornament - pair of Ultra moisturing socks - Woman's day word finds - package of 4-way nail buffers and

this lovely necklace and earring set, plus this neat black chain link bracelet. They are just my style and I love them.
Next was this great Christmas stocking filled with
Bag of snacking nuts - 2-Snickers bars - - bag of roasted peanuts - - bottle of body lotion - - kitchen towel - - plantable gift tags (they actually have seed and grow wild flowers)
How about this red night shirt/gown.

Two boxes of different stationery sets.

The very nice card and words from a wonderful Secret Santa.
Last, this is how she packed around my other goodies.

A heart felt thanks to Amy and Georgie for the SSS which was a really fun thing and time to share with others during the holidays. You two put in a lot of time making this work. Sorry, you had a few rough spots along the way. This was my first participation, and I enjoyed it. Thanks again to everyone involved in my Secret Santa Soiree.

Blue Monday

Not many more Blue Monday days for 2009. Make sure you take time to share this special day with Sally at Smiling Sally.

Beyond a shadow of doubt, you better be good as Santa is definitely out and about.

It was hard to select a tree from so many pretty bright colors. However, for today I picked the blue one.
