Southern Vintage Day

You will always be delighted each Thursday if you visit Coloradolady. She brings you some of the the best vintage thingies ever. All this and more can be seen at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com.

As you can see, when I am out roaming around, I am always looking for things to use on my blog.
Naturally, when I saw this photo, I thought of VTT.

This is an old art work of the cotton fields in Mississippi. There is so much cotton there, you think its snow for skiing.
The big, pretty, white cotton bolls are often used for flower arrangements.

My great grandson enjoying some of the many sports he is involved in. He realizes the danger in each, but has no fear trying.

He will be a very mature eight year old in August.
One of his "toys" that scares me.

Tuesday's With MeMe

F R I E N D S

How terrible it would be if we did not have friends. I have many, some for several years. Each one is a gem in a string of pearls. Friendship improves happiness and abates misery, by the doubling of our joy and the dividing of our grief. Friends serve as confidants, counselors, and burden-sharers.

Think about your friends. Have you been neglecting them? Remember two are better than one. Take time to contact a friend this week.

FRIENDS ARE FLOWERS IN THE GARDEN OF LIFE.

Roses in any color are my favorite flower. If you click on the photo, you will see a little bug enjoying the rose as well.

I paid a visit to Denise at "Second Time Around" this week. She is a new blogger and enjoys many things like some of you. Drop by htp://secondtimearoundfinds.blogspot.com and give her a warm welcome. You may get a new, fresh idea.

A Tale of Two Cities

Coloradolady at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com invites you to drop by for some great vintage finds.
I found this in a stack of books that was being thrown away. It is not my kind of reading, but thought it might be on interest to some of you. In the back of the book is "Afterword" by Edgar Johnson on July 4,1962. It is in good condition. I checked it out on E-Bay. It was listed far $75. In my opinion, the worth of anything is what someone is willing to pay far it.

If anyone would like to have this book, just let me know. Will be happy to send it to you. (No Charge)

REDnesday

REDnesday with Sue is a fun place to visit each hump day. She is having a big red party at http://suelovescherries.blogspot.com.

Just a touch of red metal in Texas.
A pretty little Sun Bonnet Sue pillow I spotted.

Tuesdays With MeMe -That 's Just The Way It Was

Sharing an incident I will never forget. My son and his wife were living in Portland, Oregon. I went to visit a few days in the later part of February of 1996. If you are familiar with Oregon, you know it is cold and rains most every day. They both worked, and had this sweet Cocker Spaniel puppy. Her name was Calamity. While they were working, I baby set with her. Over the weekend, they had planed a little trip or had to work, cannot remember which. That left me and Calamity alone. Early that Saturday morning, which was very cold, I went out to get the paper. I only had on my gown as I was just going to dash out and right back. Big mistake. The door locked behind me. I had no key, no way to contact them, freezing to death, and worried about the puppy. Panic set in!

I was in an area totally strange to me. I just picked a house from random. Knew absolutely no one around there. Bear in mind this was a Saturday and most people were off and sleeping in late. I am sure it was annoying as well as a shock when I aroused the neighbors from their sleep. Especially, when the lady saw a total stranger, stressed out, and in her gown standing at the door in the cold, early morning. I explained my predicament to her. She very graciously invited me in, got me a coat, made coffee, and tried to calm me down.

After awhile, she got her husband up to join in this fiasco. We discussed the situation and he tried to figure out what to do. He made several calls to different places that would have a connection to the addition, but no one answered. Beings it was a Saturday, the places he called were closed. After a couple of hours, I asked him to try and find a locksmith. He hated to do that as it is costly. We finally decided there was nothing else left to do. He found one, and in less than five minutes upon his arrival, he had the door unlocked. Luckily, I had brought enough money. I have never met strangers that were as nice and helpful as this couple. I definitely randomly selected the right house.

After I returned home, I sent her a little token of my appreciation. This is the note I received back from her. Wish I knew their whereabouts now.

That chapter ended, but another begin. On Sunday morning, I broke my glasses. Why do things always seem to happen on the weekend, when it is hard to find help? My daughter-in-law drove around for sometime trying to find an optical place open. Bear in mind, this was on Sunday. Thank goodness we finally found one and solved that issue. As of today, I have not been back to Portland, Oregon, and most likely never will again. My family moved to Texas shortly after that. How fortunate for me.

Blue Monday

Trust wherever you are the weather is nice for Blue Monday. We had a miserable weekend, but better today. Let's drop in on Sally at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com and check out things in Florida.

When out and about, stop and relax where you are covered by the blues.

Pink Saturday

Another Pink Saturday with our hostess Beverly. Pay her a visit at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog.
I have no regrets in not buying this outfit. Certainly not my style. However, it is a pretty pink.

I found one of the most interesting and heartwarming blogs this week.(click here) After you read Dee's issues (post dated February 8), you feel compelled to reach out to her, but can't. Her plight in life really touched me. Perhaps some of you are aware of similar situations and offer her encouragement. Dee enjoys things from the 50s and 60s. In fact, she has changed her home from the Modern to Vintage over the years. With all she is faced with on a daily basis, she still finds time to relax and use her creative talents. Her blog is called "dee dee's vintage retro delights". She can be visited at http://deedeesvintageretrodelights.blogspot.com. You will know the true meaning of unconditional love and caring after visiting. Stop and give thanks for your blessings.

Vintage Furniture

A delightful way to spend the day is with Coloradolady and her Vintage Thingies Friends. Both are found at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com.
This old chair has seen better days. I spotted it in the back of a restaurant while trying to find the restrooms. Remember, I always have my "digital" with me.
This was in the same area. They had placed this vintage door into the wall. Naturally, I tried to open. Do not judge the the restaurant where these were taken. It truly was a nice place and the food was wonderful. I just took a wrong turn.
This is a vintage Beatles poster I spotted last year while enjoying the lovely state of Colorado. I have no idea who that other face is in the window.

Tuesdays With MeMe

HAPPY VALENTINE DAY

A tender moment can be shared even while on the computer.

This is the big day for the young sweethearts. Some of the older ones still find away to fall in love again. Do you remember the feeling? When you become a senior, the excitement of finally finding that special something is great. It is amazing that "special something" can turn out to be a computer. There are a lot us falling in love again with computing.
