Blue Monday

Smiling Sally
Smiling SallySmiling Sally

As you can see, I have been out Blue Monday shopping.  Two totally different subjects to share with Smiling Sally and friends.  Blues from all over the world can be found at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com or click the Blue Birds.

Some pretty blue vintage glassware.

Now, I am not sure what this bird is, but the little touch of blue around his eye caught my attention. My neighbor has a very nice camera and knows how to use it.  This photo is a courtesy from him.

Vintage Thingie Thursday - Quilt Blocks

Today on Vintage Thingies Thursday, I am sharing some very vintage quilt blocks..  Just from reading various blogs, I have found I am not the only one that buys things you have absolutely no use for.  These caught my attention as they were so different, and I love anything to do with quilts. I can vision them in the center of a quilt with pretty country fabric as a frame..

If you will drop by http://coloradolady.blogspot.com or click her button, you will find many more interesting vintage  treasures.

My first thought was that whoever did these had to have lived on a farm or in the country.

This could have been their home.
An apple tree from their yard.

A well for their water source.
Loved pets and this was one of them.

Also,  had a kitty.

One of the animals from the stock..

I am not sure why this crossed their thoughts. Perhaps had just always found them fascinating.

This little piggy trying to get over to the other side.

Probably had a fish bowl or a fishing pond.

Another shot of dog and its friend.

Pink Saturday Treat

After you have stopped by Beverly's Pink Saturday, I would like you to visit another wonderful blogging friend.  First, you need to go to http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog and check out all the various presentations of pinks.

I was the recipient of this pretty card and gift from Linda at http://lmarandomcreativity.blogspot.com.

There are  many  great bloggers out there making lovely tags.  I have never had one.  Linda made and sent me this pretty one in pinks. The picture does not do it justice.  It has written on it "A Rose is a Rose, is a Rose".

The tag was a surprise she included with the gift she was sending me.  She makes these cute little pins out of miniature dominoes. She shares them with her friends.  Thank goodness I was considered a friend and received the one in the top, right-hand corner.

Sorry my photos are not the best or show the real beauty of them. The wording across the top is "Fly Away Homes".  It is so cute and I several things to wear it on. Most of you probably have already met Linda, but if not you are missing out.  She is a lovely lady with very nice blogs  Very talented and creative..  Thank you again Linda for thinking of me.  You are very kind and thoughtful.  I appreciated my surprises very much.

She has another site you will find of interest at:http://www.etsy.com/shop/stonecropcottage

Vintage Thingie Thursday - E' snuff Said

Once again it is time to spend your Thursday at Coloradolady's and see all the interesting vintage thingies.  You can find her at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com or click her button.

My grandparents on my mother's side, dipped snuff until the end.  I do not know how they endured it.  They had to be addicted as it was terrible.  They seemed to enjoy it so much, I tried it one day.  That was my first and last. However, I do not recall ever seeing them use it in a container like this.  Theirs was always in one or the other of the following types.  Both lived a long life.  We lost Papa at 91 and Pama at 98. They had eight children.  Pama outlived all of them except two. Apparently, snuff did not cause them any great harm.

These make great little water glasses.

Outdoor Wednesday - Nature At Her Best

Some of nature's best  sights can be found on Outdoor Wednesday.  To check them out stop by http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com and say hello to Susan.

These are not flowers, but mushrooms.

A lonely butterfly taking a rest.

Always be alert with your eyes on the road as you never know what's out there when you  are on the go.

Tuesday Wth MeMe - Church Chuckles

Did Noah Fish

A Sunday school teacher asked, "Johnny, do you think Noah did a lot of fishing when he was on the Ark?" "No," replied Johnny." How could he when he just had two worms.

The Lord Is My Shepherd

A Sunday School teacher decided to have her young class memorize one of the most quoted passages in the Bible - Psalm 23.

She gave the youngsters a month to learn the  chapter.  Little Rick was excited about the  task, but he just couldn't remember the Psalm 23.

After much practice, he could barely get past the first line.  On the day that the kids were scheduled to recite Psalm 23  in front of the congregation, Ricky was so nervous.

When it was his turn, he stepped up to the microphone and said proudly, "The Lord is my Shepherd, and that's is all I need to know."

Unanswered Prayer

The preacher's 5 year-old daughter always noticed that her father always paused and bowed his head for a moment before starting his sermon.

One day, she asked him why.  "Well Honey," he began, proud that his daughter was so observant of his messages.  "I'm asking the Lord to help me preach a good sermon."  The daughter asked, "How come He does not answer it?"
