Vintage Thingies Thursday: Sport Cards

Would you like to take a step back in time? If so, join Coloradolady at Vintage Thingies Thursday. You will find our hostess and friends taking you on a trip down memory lane.

These are 1976 Sunbeam bread football cards. A limited supply of these promotional items were offered to the public. I have no clue where I got these or why I still have them. Digging around, I found them stuck back in a forgotten place.

I think you can read the team name and history on the back of each card. This one is of the Minnesota Vikings.

aChicago Bears.

Cincinnati Bengals.

St. Louis Cardinals.

Pittsburg Steelers.

Well I've never heard of these before! What a nice giveaway they must have been. I wish companies would do that now! I remember when there was always a prize in every box of cereal!

I don't think I've seen these before. They are certainly interesting. I don't think there is anything like this done nowadays.

Wow- I would expect those must be a collectible for a die hard football fan. Wonder what they'd fetch on ebay!

You never know what you'll find but you may have a real collectible. Sport stuff is still big and these are very unusual.

Wow, I don't remember these, but then there are a lot of things I don't remember. I would check to see if they are worth anything. Isn't it strange, the things we keep.

Enjoyed your Vintage Thingies.

Interesting! I would go on ebay and do a search just for curiosity's sake. It is really fascinating what some companies did to help promote their products.

These cards are really unusual, I never saw anything like them. They brought back a mellow melancholy for the past. In our highly accelerated society it is so nice to remember the slowness of the past.
