With all the ice and cold weather lately, Coloradolady's title fits very well. It felt like a heat wave today as it got to 40 degrees. If we drop by http://coloradolady.blogspot.com, perhaps we will find lots of hot vintage thingies.
This corner shelf, better known as a" whatnot shelf"in another time, belonged to my grandmother. She was always very dear to me, but after I lost my mother rather young, she meant more than ever. Some of my best memories were shared with her. She was born in 1887 and passed away at the age of 98 on 1985. I was fortunate that I got this whatnot shelf when they settled her estate. I have no idea how old it is. I do know she had it all my life and I am no spring chicken. It has a few scratches, but otherwise in good condition for its age. Some of the dust catchers on it were hers as well.

I love the word "dust catcher". I have a lot of those! Merry Christmas. Looking forward to another year of blog reading with you.
What a lovely post! My grandmother has one of those and every time I see one, it always makes me think of her. Yours is a beauty.
My mom had two of those in our living room always. And it was definitely called the 'what-not-shelf'!! Thanks for the memories. (I wonder whatever happened to those shelves and their contents.)
What a blessing to have that beautiful shelf! It is a real treasure for you.
