Vintage Thingies Thursday

Coloradolady welcomes you another addition of her Vintage Thingies Thursday. She is waiting for your arrival at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com.
Years ago pantry shelves were stocked with these products. Some of them even I am not familiar with.

A few of those things ring a bell. I wonder what the environmentalists would have to say about many of these items? Back then we were not as conscious about these things,at least not where I grew up.

Oh my goodness...I am old enough to remember these products in our kitchen when I was a kid!

don't recognize any of them LOL but they are neat. Love the calamine lotion label.

I remember a few of them, and still use Bon-Ami, though it's getting harder to find and comes in a different container. And no respectable house would ever have been without calamine lotion! I wonder if they still sell it? I think I read it does no good...

I love the old graphics and fonts on advertising and products from the "good old days." Thanks for sharing them with us and for visiting Cottage and Creek.

Hi LV, I love reading about some of the old products we used to use. I recognize many of those you showed.... AND---some of them are still better than the new products out today!!!!!

I love that Borax sign!

I don't so much remember many of those products, but I recognize them from old magazines I read at my Great Grandmother's house. I think my passion for old advertising comes from days I spent with her as a child. She kept the old magazines for MANY years if there was a particular article she liked.

Wow, I don't remember all of these products either. But many of them are familiar. Wouldn't the people of 'old' be shocked if they saw what is on the shelves today? Older than we are LV. HA!

I am very busy and didn't join in with Suzanne today. Sigh!

I am taking a moment to wish you and your loved ones a Happy Thanksgiving. We will be in Florida for Thanksgiving week starting this Saturday.

Blessings to you and yours,
Jeanne

I don't think we had many of those items here in the UK although I do remember being lathered with Calamine Lotion every summer because I burned badly in the sun (and I still do but today we've got more effective products!)

LV, it's fun to see these old tins. My sister still has a lot of the old tins from our mom's kitchen.

Good ol' calamine lotion! :)

Although your containers may be old, some of the products still exist. You can get Calamine Lotion in any drugstore or Walmart. Bakers Angel Flake Coconut now comes in a bag. I have it in my pantry! I don't use charcoal lighter, but Wizard charcoal lighter is still available. Sani-Flush, used to clean toilets, has been discontinued, but Bon-Ami is still going strong!

I love that Borax poster! In the house I just moved into, there were quite a few "Mantiques" in the garage. We've got a couple of old Oil Cans and auto stuff cans in there that are very, very old.

Love your post!

Am I showing my age if I say I recognize some of these? lol. Nice collection! And calamine? Oh yeah, it was a regular thing at our house :)

This summer I have had the pleasure of finding more vintage cans and even a few cardboard boxes older than myself.
Back when those products were common none of us thought anyone would want the packaging generations down the road.

They make for an interesting display.
