Today's Vintage Thingies Thursday with Coloradolady is dedicated entirely to one of the best blogging friends ever. CC was special in more ways than one. She really had this thing for Sunbonnet Sue patterns or anything associated with Sunbonnet Sue. I am sure she is enjoying her Lace "N" Ribbon Roses. No doubt she and Sunbonnet Sue will be doing her "happy dance" knowing so many cared about her.
This is a vintage Sunbonnet Sue quilt, handmade and hand quilted, I was fortunate enough to keep from a family estate. I have several vintage and new quilts, but the older ones are my favorites. To realize some dear lady sat for hours with the patience of Job putting them together stitch by stitch.

A nice tribute to CC, as well. Love that quilt. Yes, those vintage ones are the best.
What a delightful quilt. Such a family treasure.
Very nice dedication to CC.
It's lovely! Hope you've been well. Been missing blogging. Work is so very busy.
A sweet sunbonnet Sue! Your post is a wonderful tribute.
Blessings & Aloha!
I'm trying to get my next post up for my 100th...hope it makes it up this week, if not, it will be up the week after... Hope you have a great rest of the week, dear friend!
I appreciate the work and beauty of these handmade quilts, but I have no desire to try my hand at that.Hope you are enjoying each day to the fullest.

What a sweet tribute. I have to agree with you, it does take the patience of Job to quilt.
It's so pretty. So happy you have it.
I love this quilt, its so incredibly made. A lovely post.
How precious. I made one totally by hand for my daughter when she was about 5 years old and she is now 47. Each time I go to visit her I say I am going to photograph it, and then I forget. The one you have is lovely.
Hugs,
Genie

wow! such a lovely quilt! I wish I have the talent to make one for my daughter too.
Thanks for visiting my blog!
I love your quilt. I have an old Sunbonnet thing I found when searching through piles of rags. Maybe I can clean it up.
I will always think of Cc whenever I see a Sunbonnet Sue.
Thank you very much for sharing :)
Your quilt is beautiful and your tribute to your friend is very wonderful.
LaVoyce, I 'heart' that Sunbonnet Sue Quilt.... Wow--how pretty. I have a similar one (same colors) which belonged to my mother. It's very special to me.
I have several quilts also--and the vintage ones are definitely my fav's...

Your quilt is precious. I admire those how have the patience to quilt. Praying you have a blessed week. Debbie
How sweet. My aunt made a quilt for my boys that had one square with a character in a bonnet that looked nearly like that (it was bo-peep...the rest of the squares had other nursery rhyme characters). She's gone now, and I treasure that quilt.
Your quilt is lovely LV. What a beautiful way to remember sweet CC.

Such a lovely tribute to CC, LV! Your Sunbonnet Sue quilt is so charming and I'm sure CC is delighting in it.
Happy VTT,
Sally
Such a sweet tribute to CC.
I am in love with your pretty quilt. My mom made quilts and I have a couple of them. Most likely you've seen the one that hangs in my dining room...it's in a lot of my photos of that room.
Regarding the boy that got drunk and lost and tore up my backyard...I am hoping and praying that he doesn't drink much...he says he doesn't. This was a party and he drank too much, thought he was at HIS house and the doors were locked..in his drunken stuper, he got mad and started banging patio furniture around.
The police hauled his little butt off to jail where he spent 2 days.
He is fixing everything he tore up..and he needs prayers that he won't ever get that out of control again.
hugs, bj
Oh, and did you know you have word verification on??

very beautiful quilt.
Great for remembering CC.
i have never seen a design like that! I love it and it looks so cute.
What a nice tribute to CC. That quilt is so pretty. My neighbor used to make that pattern quite a bit - I think she was making one for each grandchild. I always remember it fondly.
I am a sunbonnet sue fan, too. It's uncanny, the resemblence your quilt has to one that I picked up at a flea market. The sue pattern is the same, as well as, the green & pink sashing and cornerposts. I wonder if it was a printed pattern in a magazine.
