Blue Monday

WHAT DOES BLUE MONDAY MEAN TO YOU?

1. One definition is that it means to be sad. Many people feel sad to return to work after a weekend of rest.

2. Another is the Monday before Lent.

3. When I was growing up back in the 1930's, Blue Monday was a common term used for washday. We only had time to wash cloths once a week.

4. The really true meaning of Blue Monday is we get to spend a day visiting with Sally at her http://smilingsally.blogspot.com.

This little Amish fellow is happy to be a part of the blues today.

Waiting for the horse to arrive to take a buggy ride.

These are so cute! I just left a comment on a blog of someone who lives in Lancaster, Pa. which has a large population of Amish. When my sons were young, we visited there often. The Amish baked goods are to die for!! And their craftsmanship is amazing!

The Amish boy brings back memories for me! My grandparents lived in an area where most of their neighbors were Amish. When we visited them my brothers and I would play with the Amish children. Those were some fun times! I even traded clothes with one of my Amish friends once! I'm not sure how the family felt about it, since they were speaking German, but I can tell you there was a lot of chatter over it!

Happy Blue Monday!

I love those Amish crafts! :)

I didn't know Blue Monday meant wash day! But why is it "blue"? Is it blue as in lonely? Or blue as in water for washing? Curious ;)

Happy Blue Monday!

Good morning LV!
Yes, it's something special with mondays, for people working monday-friday, with a nice weekend behind, when they start to work monday morning.
Mondays as a washing day, well it's hard to believe for us modern people, who only put the clothes in the washingmachine and switch on the button...
Before the washing machine people had to boil the laundry in big "pots", and then maybe rinse it in the lake.
YES, I love my washingmachine!!!
Nice blue amish boy you are showing this Blue Monday, LV!
Have a nice week!
Best wishes,
AnnA
