Vintage Quilt

Coloradolady at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com has a wonderful Vintage Thingies feature each Thursday. She also has this thing about quilts and quilt fabric. If you have not visited her blog, you need to do so. She will amaze and surprise you.

Because of her love, as well as my own for quilts, I am showcasing one of my vintage quilts.

This is the Dresden Plate design. I bought it at an antique mall in Waxahachie, Texas.

I am not sure what year it was made. It had to have been years ago, as they do not hand piece or hand quilt like this anymore. Notice the tiny detail quilting stitches.

What a beautiful quilt! My mom is a quiltter and I keep saying I am going to get started, but I haven't yet.

I love hand-pieced and hand-quilted quilts!

That is simply gorgeous!!
I love quilts but do not quilt at all myself.
My Grandmother was pretty good and I have one of hers. A log cabin design. My Mom points out the different pieces and tells me whose dresses or aprons they come from.
Love that!

That is a really beautiful quilt. I liked doing patchwork, but I could never do the quilting.

That is beautiful and just think of all the time spent.

How beautiful! I have not seen this pattern. Some quilts like this are so lovely and time and labor intensive that I would be afraid to actually use them!! Maybe as a bedspread it would not get much wear, though. I like the idea of getting a smaller one and hanging it though.

Something like that has to be a labor of love.

The ladies here still do the hand quilting. Takes awhile, but I love a quilt that is beautiful on both sides and this one is. Looks great on the bed.

I really like this quilt. My mother-in-law had several quilts that she made, but none was as pretty as this.

This quilt is lovely. I'm always in awe of people who can do this. I can't believe that someone hand quilted the stitches on this. What patience that must take.
Thanks for sharing this with us.

Love this quilt! The hand quilting is so detailed and it looks like it's in such good shape with wonderful colors. I'm not a quilter, but my mother is. You have a great eye for the good stuff.
