I have a lot of trouble because of the sun here too ...taking pictures into it I mean! (I love the sun, but you're right, it isn't easy getting a good picture sometimes. I like both these pretty gates and the blue sky.
Oh, that first shot still has a charm all its own...but I do love that blue sky in the second.
