Vintage Thingies Thursday

Coloradolady invites you to join her at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com for a grand tour of some the most interesting vintage finds ever.

How long has it been since you have seen these stamps? We used to save them, and could hardly wait until we filled the book.and buy something.

This is definitely a vintage lamp.  In fact, it goes so far back I do not recall which family member was the original owner.  This type light was all we had.  I did all my school work and reading by one. Never in my wildest dreams did I expect to have one at this point in my life.  Trust the next generation will appreciate it.

AHHHH, I LOVED those BIG GREEN STAMPS that filled the books much faster. That was MY JOB,hehe... and LOTS of the wonderful vintage stuff now a days came from those wonderful green stamps!
I also LOVE those oil lamps...It's my "LIGHT OF CHOICE" during a power outage. So much easier than candles and throws so much BRIGHTER LIGHT!
Thanks for the memories Dear,
Big Hugs,

I love that the old things were made to last. I often wonder what our grandchildren will find to collect from all the throw-away stuff made today.

Hi Dear LV. You've given me a blast from my past with those green stamps.! I remember as a little girl helping my momma fill the little books with stamps. It was such fun to decide what to buy with them. Love the vintage lamp. My MIL still uses them for storms when her power goes out.
Have a great day LV………

Oh I sure remember the "vintage" green stamps where we used to love to fill the books, my bro and me, to exchange them for whatever, it didn't matter, the catch was to just fill it up completely! The oil lamp is beautiful dearest LV and come to think of it, I think I have one somewhere from my Mil's. I think this generation likes them, as my niece had one in all her wedding reception tables, but of course, new, not vintage, but lovely. Thanks for your sweet visit darling, YOU ALWAYS MAKE MY DAY!!
Have a happy weekend.

I loved green stamps. I would pour over their catalog trying to decide what I wanted! My local grocery store did double stamp day once a week, I always bought groceries on that day!!

OOO, I loved S&H Green Stamps with a passion. I remember once, I saved and saved and my mama saved and saved and I got the cutest chair for my living room. I sure wish I still had it. :))

We always had electricity so I didn't actually use one of the lamps. I have a couple now, just for show. :))

You brought back many memories with this post. My mother used to save S&H stamps, but I don't remember what she got with them. We also had a lamp like the one you posted. It came in handy when we lost electricity.
