Pink Saturday

Today is the third Christmas Pink Saturday with Beverly at How Sweet the Sound. At her request, we share our favorite traditions.

My favorite holiday tradition was going to "Pama's"(my grandmother) house Christmas eve. Along with my sisters and several other nieces and nephews we spent the night waiting for Santa. It was very cold and there was no heating system. My "Pama" would heat brick and put them in the bed to warm it for us. We were made to go to bed early. We all slept in the same bed. Trust me, it was nothing like the children shown below. The next morning, Christmas day, the gifts were opened. That tradition has been handed down for many generations. However today, circumstances will not always allow that to happen. To me, it still seems the right thing to do, open gifts on Christmas day.

This is my Christmas cactus. I have had this plant several years. This is first time it has bloomed to this extent. Each little branch has a bud or bloom. I was so happy it decided to really show off in full bloom.

Oh LV...
Happy Pink Post sweetie. I love the picture of the kiddos all sound asleep, not a creature was stirring... So precious.

Loving that Christmas. Bloomed just in time for the holiday. Aren't you lucky? It is so beautiful.

Please stop by and let me share my pink post with you.

Country hugs...Sherry

Love hearing about your Christmas memories, LV.... We all have ours and most are quite different, one from the other. We always opened our gifts on Christmas MORNING--and never on Christmas Eve.

My crazy Christmas Cactus bloomed before Thanksgiving this year.... Duh!!!!

Have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

It took us two days and numerous miles and stops to find a little ol' Christmas cactus this year! And I recall when they were just so very common and we got one each year!

Yours is so lovely! Love that shade of pink.

I do not think I would have enjoyed being chilly at my granny's, even with a heated brick in the bed!!! I do recall my granny had a hissing gas wall heater and a little fireplace for heat...and no AC...in Louisiana!

With all of you fighting in 1 bed I'm sure it was nice and warm! My Christmas cactus never blooms in December.

Beautiful Christmas cactus! I have one, and it gives me only one blossom at a time. I guess I should not be greedy!

Merry Christmas!

I agree - present should be open on Christmas Morning. But then my son came along about 35 years ago things changed - especially after he moved out into his own place. :-)

Happy Pink Saturday (a day late) and have a very Merry Christmas!

We always open our gifts Christmas morning, although when the children were small, we'd allow them to open one gift each on Christmas Eve.

I love your Christmas cactus! So many blooms!

We're in our home, and we've been blessed with an abundant supply of good helpers, but we've still much to do.

Hello Meme, Thank you for your comments when I can't always reply. We have simply been gone every Pink Sat for the past month. I am trying. I love your story of Christmas when you were young. A lovely memory even if it seems hard by today's standards. All my growing up years I shared a bed with my sister. We are very close to this day.

May Peace be your gift at Christmas and your blessing all year through!

Christmas love, Jeanne
