I am sure you do not need to be reminded, but this is a special day at Vintage Thingies Thursday with Coloradolady. Take time out of your busy schedule, relax and enjoy the the lovely items shown.
My father is on the bottom row, second from the left.
These are very vintage photos of my father taken in 1926 when he was 20 years old. He is the man on the right, standing straight as a board.
We lost him February 8, 1987. I wrote this in his memory the following father's day. I would like to share it with you to honor this father's day, June 21.
IN MEMORY OF MY FATHER
The Lord Gives
The Lord Takes Away
Our Hearts Still Ache
From the loss on February 8th
All We have this special day
Are memories left behind
Of a husband and father
Compassionate and kind
Everyone was his friend
Like the buyer of his pelt
The doctor that would help
Those that bought his cans
The pastor's prayerful hands
The domino games
That softened life's pains
Only loving thoughts remain
We miss him so and on
This Father's Day
We each say, REST IN PEACE
Until we meet again.
This is one of the best pictures he ever agreed to have made before he became so ill.
Thank you for letting me share a small portion of my vintage memories with you. To all the fathers out there, I wish you nothing but the best on this special Father's Day.

That is a nice poem for Father's Day.
oh awesome vintage photos - I love looking at those because you can imagine the person's life.
Your post in honour of your Friday is so uplifting.
What a wonderful tribute to your father on Father's Day.
Btw,I like the phrase in your other post: The bread of life needs no butter.
To me, the Holy Spirit is the "butter" He gives us the understanding as we read the Word of God.
Have a pleasant week.
What a sweet tribute to your father.
What a sweet poem you wrote in honor of your father! I love pictures from that era--everyone's expression was so serious, you rarely saw a smile. Thank you for sharing your poem and pictures!
what a lovely tribute, LeVoice..it makes me think of my dad who passed away when i was only 18
Old family pictures are such treasures!!!
Wonderful pictures of your dad--and sweet poem.
Don't worry about yourself...I thought I had left a comment, and I see it is not there.....Oh My.

Wonderful photos of your Dad and his buddies! and a lovely tribute from you on Father's Day.
What a lovely tribute to your father! I couldn't help but gawk at these amazing vintage family photos!
What a beautiful tribute to your dad. Those vintage photos are really neat too, and they look like they're still in really great shape! Oftentimes you see old photos like that that are so faded and grainy that they're hard to make out.
What a touching post about your father. He must have been a wonderful father for you to admire him so much and he was lucky to have you for a loving daughter.
Thank you for sharing your pictures and sweet poem, it was very endearing.
What a wonderful post. Thanks for sharing your memories.
What a beautiful tribute! You obviously loved him very much. I enjoyed those photos. I thought of using some of my husband's old family photos, as I don't have any myself. Amazing how different things look over time, isn't it?
