Vintage Thingie Thursday

You never know what will turn up at Coloradolady's vintage show. Mine is a over-sized straight razor.  I saw this in an antique store. I am sure it was used for advertising purposes. Back in my young days, all the men used a much smaller version daily.  They kept them sharp using an old leather strap.
Drop by http://coloradolady.blogspot.com and see what the other participates have to share.

This one is really a beauty! Our men's and women's hair cuttery says they are not allowed to shave men anymore!

That is such a good example of awesome creative old advertising. Love it!

I love these old reminders---I can smell the Old Spice and Vitalis right now.

My Chris still uses a real Gillette with the double-edge blades, and a shaving mug with soap and a brush. It has its own special little Tupperware snap-top bowl for when we travel.

If your Daddy used one like that, you'd laugh at the time when I balanced the little package of my Daddy's razor blades in that narrow slot in the back wall of the medicine cabinet. I thought it was for storing them handy, and was appalled to hear that I might have disposed of the whole thing right down the slot.

And I still have Grandpa's old leather STROP.

Very cool piece! It would look amazing hanging in a modern day barber shop, wouldn't it?

That is a prize indeed. Yes brings back memories. My grandfather, who we lived with for 9 years, used one like that. Great shot.
