Blue Monday

May our flag always be able to fly over the land of the free and home of the brave.

Today on Blue Monday with Smiling Sally at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com, I am testing your eye sight.

Look close as there is a blue jay sitting there. They are too fast for me. Had to take it through a door by pulling it in with my camera.

Another close look and you will see a tiny blue birdhouse.

I know she has a garden of beautiful roses, but wanted to send her some of my pink roses for this special day. Thank you Beverly for all you do to make Pink Saturday such a success.

Vintage Thingies Thursday/1948 Graducation

It is vintage graduation time with Coloradolady. Time is fleeting by much too fast for me. This graduation was 62 years ago.

My senior class ring. I have hardly worn it so it looks like a new one.

The merchants in our little town gave each senior a little cedar chest like this. I still have mine and my husband's.

This a Lane cedar chest that my folks gave me upon graduation.

I had the leading lady part in our senior play.

I even was in the running for football queen. The winner was determined by how much money you could raise for the school. A country girl could hardly compete with the city girls. I did not win, but came in third which was not too bad under the circumstances. I was a member of the queen's court which thrilled me.

Best wishes to all the graduates whoever and wherever you are.

Blue Monday

I realize Mother's day is behind us, but I wanted to share part of mine. My gift is perfect for Blue Monday with http://smilingsally.blogspot.com.

This is a little travel kit for your nails our church gave all the mothers on that day.

How many of you have ever received a bottle of window cleaner? Well bless pat, my son and his wife gave this to me for my mother's day. It was a very big surprise but one I really needed. I appreciated it more than anything else they could have selected. You see, I have old,aluminum,double-paned storm windows. Just washing the outside and inside will not get the job done. To clean the between, the entire window has to be removed, cleaned and reinstalled. That is why they are not cleaned very often.

The man has been here and washed all my windows. I cannot even tell there is glass in the windows. They are so clean and clear. He even cleaned my bathroom mirror. The first time I looked into it, was not sure who I was. I had not seen myself so clearly. He might should have left the mirror dirty.

I also received beautiful flowers from my granddaughter and her family. The flowers may not not fit Blue Monday, but the touch of blue on the planter does.
