Coloradolady invites you to join her for another exciting day on Vintage Thingies Thursday. If you enjoy vintage things, take time out for some exciting showings.
Vintage things featured today go way back in my time.
This is an old horseshoe. It has been around longer than I can remember. It has hung above some door wherever I have lived. It has not changed my luck whatsoever.
This a vintage Apsco Chicago pencil sharpener. It has been with me a very long time. It is all metal with a Type II cutter assembly. I use it all the time.
This is from the 40's or 50's aluminum Mirror-Matic Electric Percolator coffeepot. It was my mothers. It is in very good condition with all the original parts and cord. It has a glass top and a solid, thick, brown handle. And,
it is embossed on the bottom 9252M 8 cup. It would still make a great cup of coffee.

My daughter's wedding was Western themed. The ring bearer carried an old horseshoe that we'd painted in her wedding color of pink, added some flowers and fake rings. We had one of those same pencil sharpeners until we moved about a year ago. I didn't think to take it off the garage wall before we moved. Sad.
Great finds you show here! I think the superstition is you have to hang it so that the open part is on the top so that it "holds" your good luck. Can't hurt to try, right? On the other hand, "if it ain't broke, why fix it?"
Turn the open end of the horse shoe up - let's see if that helps!
I have an old horseshoe I found on a trip once. I used to hang it on my wall-mounted pencil sharpener. I forgot to move my sharpener when I moved & thought I had lost the horseshoe too. I recently saw the horseshoe--somewhere.
P.S. Your link is missing a letter so doesn't work.
LV,
I have always been told that you need to hang the horseshoe the other way otherwise the luck runs out.
Can't wait to see what happens if you turn it around, perhaps your luck will too!
Love and Hugs ~ Kat
Great items. I remember using pencil sharpeners like that.

I have never seen the coffee pot...that is so great! Turn your horseshoe over...but it might look funny, I only remember it hanging this way for all of these years! Have a great VTT!
LV, I remember all those vintage things you have shared today! Wow! I am an old thingy too!

Like that horseshoe and love that sharpener and the coffee maker is just wonderful. I wonder..whyever did we stop using all our wonderful things like that. Now I have a little bitty 2 cup coffee maker, but I betcha that one has made many cups of great coffee. Happy VTT...have a wonderful weekend.
Great post Lavoice. Look on the bright side, you might have had worse luck without the horseshoe!
Turn the horsehoe upside down because in the position it is in now, all of your luck is falling out!You always have such fun things to show, because I can remember my mother and grandmother having the same things. The pencil sharpener is the only kind that really works, but how many of us have a pencil?
Love the horse shoe. I'm looking for one for my house. There was the same sharpener in my class when I was young.
Happy VTT!
I need to hang a horseshoe in our home for fun and for luck! Thanks for sharing.
Blessings,
Cindy
Nice finds! Nice pictures! Thanks for sharing!

Hi LV, thanks for dropping by my blog... Ilove the pencil sharpener, we have one by my dads table so old already it was there evn before I was born ... nice blog.. followed you too!
My Mom used her coffeepot like that one for years. I can remember is cooking on our stove. Is your horseshoe from a family members farm? Love all your thingies.
These are some wonderful pieces you have in your home. I would LOVE to have one of those pencil sharpeners...we go through a lot of the cheepie plastic ones. :0
Oh LV Sweetie...
Good Morning Honey and what beautiful shares you have today. I love the horse shoe. My Moma believes the same thing, in that it brings her luck, and it has to be hanging in the house. It is beautiful though, just beautiful.
I too have one of those old pencil sharpeners. Would be lost without it. I will have to check the brand on mine.
Also love that coffee perculator. My Daddy still has his. Moma has made coffee for him for years with that darn thing. Love it.
Country hugs...Sherry
My parents had a coffeepot like the one you've pictured. They may still have it, but I haven't seen it in years. We have a pencil sharpener similar (different make) to the one you've shown in our garage. It also works fine.
You have some great vintage items. Horseshoes don't change my luck either but I could sure use that pencil sharpener. :)
Kinda of funny that I have had horses (and their shoes) off and on for almost 40 years and have never hung a horseshoe. Thought about it once or twice. LOL I do have a horseshoe on my kitchen counter. DH used it as a base for a banana holder/hanger thingie.
I always enjoy looking at your vintage stuff!
Hi LV! Thank so much for dropping by today. I have to say I LOVE that coffee pot. Why if I came across one while thrif shopping, I'd snatch it right up! Yours is much more special, though, since it belonged to your mama. :) Oh, and I really like the vintage pencil sharpener. Takes me back to when I was a kid. Ahh, memories...
I found you by way of you leaving a comment on my blog. Thanks for stopping by. I am glad you did. I remember my Grandparents drinking coffee that resembled crude oil from an old percolator pot. Nice trip down memory lane....Thanks
Hi LV,
Nice to meet you!Thank you for stopping by my blog and thank you for sharing the nice vintage items. My husband would love that percolator.
You showed the greatest things this week...they all brought back wonderful memories and had me oohing and aahing!
Hello Meme, I love your new look on you blog. So pretty. It probably has been this way and I just didn't notice.
I love your vintage items today. We had horseshoes over our door years ago when I was growing up. Good luck??? I don't think so unless growing up in a wonderful loving home is considered good luck. Smile. I remember those old pencil sharpeners. They were good. Our electric one is NOT so good. HA! Do you make coffee in that pot? I bet it would be good.
Did you visit Rachel today. I think you would enjoy her wonderful posts.
Take care.
Hugs xoxo, Jeanne
I love old pencil sharpeners! I still think they work the best too.
Coffee pot looks like one my MIL had. They are rarely found anymore.
We used to have lots of old horse shoes because my Dad raised pacers!
I like all your vintage items too.
Happy weekend.
