Blue Monday

It is a very cold Blue Monday in Texas. Trust Sally and her Smiling Sally friends are warm and sunny today.

These are utility company boxes scattered around the area. I think it is a neat idea and adds color to an otherwise plain housing.

Pink Saturday

Black rover, black rover come over to Pink Saturday. Beverly, At How Sweet The Sound, and her pink Saturday ladies will surely have a "treat" for you.

Just a few little pinkies I have kept for a special reason. They all belonged to my granddaughter when she was a sweet little thing. I do not believe the big hair clip was hers. However, I am sure I never wore it. The crayon is a lipstick, and the others are hair clips.

My new first visit friend for today is Ann Creek at htttp://tinandsparkle.blogspot.com. She is just starting her blog and would appreciate your visits and comments. In fact, her first post was 1-20-10. She has shown some very interesting things, and is doing well for a beginner.

Vintage Thingies Thursday

Welcome to another exciting segment of Vintage Thingies Thursday with Coloradolady.

Back in the 70's my late husband had a crush on Dolly Parton. We both enjoyed her and admired how she became a big star from meager means. Just for the fun of it, I bought him this doll. Told him that was as close as he would get to her. Since, he was not a "doll" playing person, the doll was never taken out of the box.

This doll is a vintage 12 inch Poseable Dolly Parton Doll in the original box. It was made in Hong Kong by (c) Goldberger Doll Mfg. Co., Inc. of Brooklyn, N.Y. She is dressed in the original red outfit and still strapped in the box and attached to factory cardboard insert. Her little red shoes are still sealed in a plastic bag inside the box. Excellent condition.

The following picture was taken off E-Bay. It is the same doll I have and in the same great unused condition. The asking price on it was $249 plus shipping. Well, I nearly fell out of my chair. However, in reality, nothing is worth more than what someone is willing to pay for it. I doubt many would pay that for this doll. I have decided I might better seal her up for preservation.

Blue Monday

Have you noticed how fast Blue Monday is coming around. It is a great day to visit with Sally and her Smiling Sally friends. You will see blues like you have never seen before.

Recently on a day with my great grandson, we visited a little airport near where he lives. These buildings appear to be warehouses or sheds. They are very large metal buildings. Would you believe, inside each of these is a $100,000 and up lovely home. They literally custom build you a home inside this building. I have not been inside one, but those that have say they are beautiful. There are rows and rows of them and only saw one for sale and one for rent. On thing for sure, they do not have yard work.

They give flying lessons here. There are a few business establishments. Each building has a huge garage area for private plane, cars and all other things you would find in a garage.

These are their mailboxes.

After driving all around this complex and watching the little planes come and go, we decided to have lunch at this little cafe. It is located at the airport as well.

My great grandson was not eating his lunch like I thought he should. I told him in order to grow big and strong, he needed to eat more. His remark was "MeMe, I get so excited when you come I just can't eat". Well, that just melted my heart and I forgot about food.
He never ask for anything when we are out. However, after his comment, I would have bought him the airport if I could. I told him to pick whatever he wanted in the cafe gift shop. He selected this little blue plane. Blue is his favorite color.

This fellow had to come in for fuel. Naturally, he wore blue pants just for us. I was not aware the gas tanks on these planes are in the wings. My great grandson knew it though.

Vintage Thingies Thursday

Somewhere around your area must be vintage things. Check them out and share on Vintage Thingies Thursday hosted by none other than Coloradolady. There are many special day blogs, but this one is very popular. Check it out.

I do not have a clue why I have these three little cards. My "memory bank" has joined all the other failing banks. I found them stuck back in a forgotten place in a drawer. They are a part of a Bicentennial Daze series of 24 cards. They were made in 1976 by Gamecraft USA and found in loaves of bread as promotion cards. They depict scenes from America's first 200 years.
This is card No. 10 of the series.

This is No. 8 of the series.

This is No. 14 of the series.

Outdoor Wednesday

Welcome to another edition of Outdoor Wednesday. Our announcer for this great show is none other than Susan, A Southern Daydreamer.

Along the back road, I travel often to avoid the freeways, is a place with all different animals. These few llamas were near enough to the road for me to take these pictures. They are very social, gentle animals. They like living in herds. They were imported from South America in the 20th century into the USA and Canada.

Blue Monday

May all the Blue Monday participates be flying high to visit Sally, from Smiling Sally.

May blue skies be smiling down on you all through this week.

Should you be having a little bit of a bad day, sending you a blue box of tissues to wipe it away.

Sally, I do not make a habit of sharing more than one post at a time. However, this was such a lovely blue award to me, I just wanted to share it with you and my Blue Monday friends.

I ended the 2009 year on an award winning note. Maria from http://personalizedsketchesandsentiments.blogspot.com/ honored me with this "Splash Award". The award is for alluring, impressive, inspiring blogs. It is a great feeling to think I might have blogged about something that would fall into those categories. Maria, you closed out the old year for me in a very positive way with this pretty blue special award. Thank you very much.

If you have not visited her blog, you should do so. She is an amazing, creative lady. She does beautiful, personalized hand sketches. I know first hand as she did some excellent sketches for me. You just have to see her work to really appreciate it. Check her out.

Pink Saturday

The 2010 year started out for me with a wonderful win. What better way to start your year off right. A special lady, Sherry from http://countrywingsinphoenix.blogspot.com/ had a big give-a-way. I was fortunate to be one of the winners of this lovely necklace.
This is the back side of the necklace. How neat is this. A domino made into a Pink Saturday keepsake necklace. Thanks again Sherry for starting my New Year off with a pink blast.

It is rather hard finding neat pink things to share each Pink Saturday. However, it seems to be no problem for Beverly, At How Sweet The Sound, and her many friends from locating interesting pinks. Pay her visit and see the best of pinks.

I visited ZuZu from http://a-cottage-in-the-woods.blogspot.com/ for the first time this week. She lives in a cottage in beautiful Colorado that they built themselves. She is a very talented and creative lady. You will truly enjoy her blog. Please drop by for a visit.

I spotted these lamps in an antique mall. The light makes the shades appear darker, but they are pink.

Thought this little pink vase and flowers would be nice to share with you as well.
