Vintage Thingies Thursday

To those of you that enjoy vintage things, be sure to check out Coloradolady at Vintage Thingies Thursday. You will truly be surprised at all the neat things that are showcased.

Enid Collins handbags opened in Median, Texas in the 59 time frame. In 1970, they sold the company to Tandy Leather Corp. They primarily made two type bags - wooden box purses and canvas bucket styles. Each decorated with sequins and rhinestones.

This is the bag I purchased during the 1970's. It is called "Rail Classic". The 1960's hand bags are fully under the Enid Collins name and carry a small "c". The bags made by Tandy Corp. carry a capital "C". From all indications, my hand bag is from the Tandy time frame.

I thought I just had have one of these fancy bags. However, I seldom used it. It is in mint condition. Maybe, I will use it another time. The old saying, "What goes around, comes around", so it may be back in style.

A final note to all my blog friends. I am sorry I have not acknowledge your most welcomed visits and comments this week as I should. My heart has been very heavy, and emotions very high. I lost one of dear vintage friends this week. Bear with me, I will get back in the swing next week.

I have to tell you, I think your purse is definitely back in style! I think it might be worth a small fortune! I hope you will find an opportunity to use it again, real soon. Why not? Vintage clothing and accessories are definitely in fashion right now!
Happy VTT Lavoice!

That purse is awesome! A cool concept, and jewels, too. You could use it as a small sewing box.

So sad to lose a treasured old friend. "Gone, never forgotten."

We will all meet again in the sweet by-and-by. But that doesn't stop our grief in this world.

Your purse is wonderful. I suddenly remembered seeing what must have been knock-offs of these lovely purses, just wooden decoupaged ones, in the late 60's and early 70's.

Thanks for sharing your Enid Collins purse and for the history behind the company that made it. I recently saw an Enid Collins at an antique store (can't recall the price). Take care.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I'll anxiously await your posts when you are up and at it again as I have enjoyed them so much since just recently finding your blog. I too have not been posting much as my Dad is nearing the end of his journey. It's so hard to lose those we love.
Your purse is fantastic. I hope you get a chance to use it again. Who cares if it is in style - if ya love it then you should show it off!

Oh Honey!! I'm so sorry about your terrible loss. I love your post and wonder if you've met the girlie who posted like a month ago about a whole collection of these purses? They are really neat and this is only the 2nd time I've seen anything about them. Can't remember who showed about 4 of these. Yours is super fine and I'd love to wear it to 1 of my hubby's train shows he drags me to.

Love your Enid bag. I have a wooden one too and now I must go look for the "c" to see whether it be large or small! It was my Mom's and I carry it occasionally.
