Vintage Fiddle

Off we go to the cool Coloradolady location. It has to be cooler there than here. For testing purposes go to http://coloradolady.blogspot.com and see what cool vintage things her friends share.

This little cobalt blue fiddle bottle belongs to my sister. They were originally produced in the 1930s. This was found and bought in the late 70s or early 80s.

It has embossed strings on the front. The only marking on the bottom is number 5. Collectors call these bottles VIOBOTS. This one is in mint condition. Cork stopper is missing. I have no idea what was originally in this bottle. I assume some type of drink.
Placed in front of a lamp makes it look like the lamp base. Added just a little vintage concept with a modern look.

Outdoor Wednesday

An Outdoor Wednesday with Susan at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com Texas style.

These cowboys and their horses are all metal. However, there are plenty of both the real things all over Texas. In fact, where I live is known as "Cowtown-Where the West Begins".

Senior Computer Terms

The following information was complied by Susan Capps in a Senior Citizen paper. I am one of the seniors and understand completely what she is saying.

A computer was something on TV from a science fiction show of note. A window was something you hated to clean, and ram was the cousin of a goat.

Meg was the name of my girlfriend and gig was a job for the nights. Now they all mean different things, and that really mega bytes.

An application was for employment. A program was a TV show. A cursor used profanity. A keyboard was a piano.

Memory was something that you lost with age. A CD was a bank account.

Compressor was something you did to the garbage, not something you did to a file. And, if you unzipped anything in public, you'd be in jail for a while.

Log on was adding wood to the fire. Hard drive was a long trip on the road. A mouse pad was where a mouse lived. And, a backup happened to your commode.

Cut you did with a pocket knife. Paste you did with glue. A web was spider's home. And, a virus was the flu.

I guess I'll stick to my pad and paper. And, the memory in my head. I hear nobody's been killed in a computer crash. But when it happens, they wish they were dead.

Pink Saturday

We have all made another week. Now it is time to go Pink Saturday blog hopping with Beverly at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog.

One of my lovely pink roses before the heat wave came to Texas.
My sister is in charge of all the ladies activities at her church. She bought this little wire, pink tea pot to use in a table decoration.

If you are looking for an interesting blog, go to(click) "Gwenny's Way" and say hello to Gwenny. She is a very versatile lady. She has just become a grandmother and enjoys riding a motorcycle. When she is not out riding cross country, she is in the kitchen preparing great meals.

Vintage Chairs

Today I am just sitting around relaxing with Coloradolady and her vintage friends. Come join me at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com

This is a very old straight back chair that belonged to my parents. It has had a paint job over the years. I need to strip it back to its original color.
Now this one is a real prize. I am sitting in some type chair, but have no idea what it was. Everything in this photo is vintage now.
This vintage rocker belonged to my husband's grandparents. So it goes back probably to the late 18th or early 19th century. A very comfortable rocker. It is in its original condition.

Pink Saturday

After the past few exciting Pink Saturday's, it is hard to get back to the basics. Still Beverly never lets us down on the greatest meme for Pinks around. To see what I mean go to http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog.

From all the blogs I have seen lately, June no doubt is the busiest month for weddings. The light puts a tiny pink touch to the bride's dress. These little Dollies were spotted in an antique mall.

All decked out in her pink bride maids dress, resting until her time to appear. She is waiting till last to put her shoes on since she will be standing so long.

If you are searching for a new friend, you should visit (click)Trisha at http://americanhoneyhome.blogspot.com. Her header is "Glass Slippers And All Sorts of Stuff". That is exactly what she shares with us. Another reason to visit, she is planning a nice giveaway soon. It will honor two very special occasions in her life. A two year wedding anniversary and one year of blogging. She is a delightful lady.

Colorado Columbine

Since Coloradolady loves going to the mountains, trust she enjoys my Vintage Thingies Thursday today. There are many more great vintage things to be seen at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com.

This is a gorgeous vintage cup and saucer by Norcrest in the Columbine pattern. My sister is the owner of this set. It belonged to her mother-in-law. It dates back to the late 40s or 50s. It is hand painted and completely trimmed in gold. The pretty blue Columbines are the state flower of Colorado.

The Columbine flower started its journey to become the Colorado State flower back in 1891 when some Colorado school children voted the flower as their favorite. In 1899 a Colorado Women's Club, in Cripple Creek, discovered the flower had never been officially declared as the state flower. On April 4, 1899 the Columbine was approved as the state flower.

Blue Monday

Blue Monday will not be the shame for a few weeks without Sally. Be sure to show her your support and visit at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com. Even though she is not with us on the blog, trust she is having a good day. Take care.

I have several of the old vinyl records in all sizes. Had nothing to play them on. Found this little record player with just a touch of blue and bought it.
Now I can play this blue record plus all the others. Sit back and reminiscence.

Sunday Mighty Warriors

We had a fund drive to help the youth going to camp. In the foyer we had two jars. One for men and one for ladies. The winner would be determined by the amount of money collected. If the men lost, they had to wear pink. Ladies lost had to wear camo. As you can see, the ladies lost. Some of these dear ladies are always so prim and proper each Sunday, I was shocked seeing them dressed like this. After seeing them, I felt I was undressed for the occasion.

The little lady on the right is our oldest member. She is 96 and will be 97 in August. Still spry more than you can imagine. Her husband was the pastor at the time I became a member.

We gals may have lost this battle with the guys, but we had fun losing.
As if you did not know, that's me on the top, right hand corner.
You might recognize one of these two. The other lady is 90 and very active.

My Pink Saturday

When I was growing up, Saturday was going to the "picture show". Today, Beverly's Pink Saturday is the best show around. In fact, there is a great feature being shown today. It's "Thoughts From Meme's Corner". Please join me for this special presentation at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog.

My arms are opened wide welcoming you to my blog world.

It is an honor for me to be featured on Pink Saturday. So excited, I put on my poodle skirt and did a happy dance. (That is definitely not me.)

I am presenting this beautiful rose to Beverly for being such a gracious hostess each Pink Saturday. Thank you very much. I truly appreciate you.
