Outdoor Wednesday

If you enjoy world wide outdoor scenes, then http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com is the place to visit.

This is an sculpture created by Ned Kahn of California .  He calls it "a gossamer ghost". The city gave it the name of "Wind Roundabout" and it sits right in the center of a traffic circle in downtown Fort Worth.  The tower is covered in scrim of hinged aluminum plates that move with the wind and reflect the sunlight during the day and headlights at night. I am not sure it was worth what the city paid $952,230 but guess they saw something I do not.

Dearest LV,
The decision for placing such 'art' for a huge sum of money (tax payer's money I'm afraid!) is one that cannot be understood by anyone using common sense.
Some crosses have to be removed and such ugly thing we must like?!
And this ugliness we ought to like? Not me!
Why does the media always give the noisy minority their attention time?
Guess that it is age old: “Coins always make sound but currency notes are always silent, so when ever your value increases keep yourself calm and silent.” ― William Shakespeare
Hugs,
Mariette

There's a lot of 'art' that I don't get and this is one of them....but, to each his own!

An unusual sculpture. I like it when cities invest in art, but sometimes it's hard to understand what they pick. - Margy

That's quite an interesting sculpture. They just installed a new one at our airport that I need to go photograph soon & share.

Happy New Year! Art will bring us to perceive things in our lives differently or so I have been told in self help books. Interesting sculpture.
