Good Fences

Always delighted to be a part of Good Fences each week.  Theresa is a great hostess and a very popular blogger.  You are truly missing out if you do not visit http://run-a-roundranch.blogspot.com

WHAT THEY CALL A SPLIT, RAIL FENCE.  HAVE NOT SEEN MANY LATELY.

My neighbor across the street is one-fourth Choctaw Indian from Oklahoma.  Each year the tribe issues a new calendar. The 2016 honors the Choctaw Elders. Dave, in the above photo, is 98 and still farming.  He is sowing seeds of culture for the younger generations. His plant stakes reminds me of a little fence is why he is being featured today.

I wish I was farming now. Only 78 but not up to that at any age now. I like this meme too there is a lot of material out there for this topic. Blessings.

Very nice fences. Split rail is always a great rustic fence. Wow, 98 and still farming. That's quite an accomplishment.

Dearest LV.,
That is incredible for a man at age 98 to look that straight and fit to do such planting!
A calendar to treasure as it is so special in many ways.
Thanks for sharing this.
Hugs,
Mariette

Always good to find another Texan blogging. No, we don't see split rail fences much anymore. Would be interesting to know why they're not around anymore. Upkeep probably more than wire fencing.

Wow, farming still at that age. Some people quit working easy jobs decades before that. He gets re-tired but he gets his energy back the next morning

Your neighbor, Dave, touched me a lot. He looks unbelievable for his 98. He is great example for the people!
