Vintage Thingie Thursday

Most of you are probably busy getting ready for the holiday, but take a break, visit http://coloradolady.blogspot.com and say hello to Coloradolady.

This is a 1918 National cash register. My, how times have changed.

I cannot remember what the sign said on the tank, other than it was one of the first Gulf gas pumps back in the 1900's. This was in an antique mall I recently visited. I enjoy going and look, but seldom buy.

that cash register must have been so 'high-tech' in its day!

The National Cash Register Company was in Dayton, OH where we lived for 30 years. We see them often and every time, I'm surprised anew at how really beautiful they are! I think that is one reason they are still around!

makes you wonder how easy they were to operate

You and I would be really good antique store partners. I like everything you take pics of.

My first job in a retail store had manual cash registers. You had to press several keys at once to ring up a sale. Nothing was calculated for you and you had to count the change back to the customer. Today's cashiers have it easy!
