Children's Books Vintage Thursday #2

Today on Coloradolady I am sharing a few more of the vintage children's books. However, if they are not your interest, at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com you will find lots of things to enjoy on Vintage Thingies Thursday.
As mentioned in my first post, these books are all from an Indian Library in Oklahoma. After so many years, they discard the older ones. This one involves a happy little handcar who led a straight and narrow life on the railroads.

As you can see, this is a story of a little elephant that woke up one morning sick and a temperature of 512. That seems too high even for an elephant.

The story of the bears waking from a long sleep.

What a neat collection of old children's books. My best friend bought some Mother Goose Nursery Rhymes for her little grandchildren recently.. We had fun talking about some of the old nursery rhymes recently... FUN!!!

Betsy

The Little Handcar is so cute. It reminds me of The Little Engine That Could.

I don't remember any of these, but they look really good. I will try to find the elephant one for Ella. I DO remember Whitman publishing Company.

Oh, little Hank the Handcar!! I had a lifelong wish to ride one of those charming vehicles all the time I lived within lookin'-distance of a railroad.

I just knew it would take me to wondrous places.

I've just started reading the first Bobbsey Twins to our Sweetpea---her first "chapter-book" and she's enjoying the marvel of such brothers and sisters, and trying to understand about "twins." We have to be SO careful with the pages, for it was my book so many years ago.

Railroads and elephants, if there were young kids in my home, I'd HAVE to find those books. I hope I won't need kid stuff at least until my nieces are out of college though! (I really hope)
