Ice Capades of 1955

Today with Coloradolady at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com and her Vintage Thingies Thursday, we are going back to 1955.

This program has seen better days. It is an original copy of the Ice Capades Show in 1955. I found this at an estate sale. I am sure some couple had a grand old time attending this great event.

The technique of ice skating remains the same.

I like the vintage look of the program. At first I thought the first picture was a pin-up.

What a fun post! I'm glad you're treasuring it now. I can remember going to the Ice Capades when I was about 9 or 10 years old. It was so much fun!

I just loved your post today. If the temp keep dropping in NC we might just see the pond freeze over. But not for ICE SKATING! Have a blessed week!

1955 I was nine years, and in our family, there was still no TV. But a few years later, we also got TV, My mom and I loved to watch figure skating and not to mention all the dance films of Fred Astaire
Your post today takes me back in time, and reminds me that I have several movies with Fred Astaire on the video.
Hugs

What a wonderful reminder of simpler times. I can remember when having the Ice Capades in a nearby city was a very big deal. The program looks as if it is in pretty good shape.

Oh, I love the colors in these. The Retro Between-Teal-&-Sky-Blue with the Greys and Whites is so Vintage Winter.

And that WWII one is actually kinda funny!

I love it! Thank you for sharing so many of the photos! I saw a bunch of these for sale once, and wanted them of course, but they were a little overpriced for me. Thanks for sharing!!

I always loved watching ice skating on tv when I was a kid! When I had kids, we always took them to the ice capades when they would come close to here!
It is just the best kind of entertainment ever! I miss them so much and the kids still talk about it!
Craig even was one of the kids who got to go out on the ice and be apart of the act! He was thrilled!
Hugs for the reminder of better days!

That is just delightful. I think my favorite skating costume is the pink one at the beginning. Thanks for sharing!
