Vintage Thingies Thursday

My Vintage Thingies Thursday today is on a little brighter note. Since this was the last Thursday before Easter, wanted to feature a small part of the blessed day with Coloradolady and her many VTT friends.

This is the craving on my vintage headboard. This belonged to my husband's grandparents that he never knew. Its original state was with high headboard. My father-in-law was a carpenter, and felt I would like it better not as tall. He cut the head and foot-board down to the size you see here.

This is a "Sunbonnet Sue" or "Dutch Doll" quilt that I was fortunate to obtain from my late mother-in-law. The Sunbonnet Sue block is one of the most widely recognized quilt block patterns. The design of a playful girl with a big bonnet can be traced back to the late 188s and early 20th century. Bertha Corbett Melcher is credited as a creator of the Sunbonnet design.

All these Sunbonnet Sues are showing off their bonnets for Easter.

The only Easter rabbits that will be at my house are these two yard ornaments.

NOTE:
I would like to invite all my blogging friends to visit my blog on Saturday. It is a first for me and trust the last. Thank you.

Blue Monday

Today's Blue Monday, I added just a touch of the Easter that is coming up. Perhaps
http://smiling sally.blogspot.com and her friends will share some Easter blues as well.

I realize these photos do not reflect a rich, bright blue, but this rose is blue. This is from last years roses. I just hope the bush made it thorough the bad winter and blooms again. I had never seen a blue one before.

Pink Saturday

Since we are approaching the Easter season, just adding a little touch early on Pink Saturday. Beverly at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog is our wonderful hostess for this special Saturday.

This is a a beautiful butterfly on one of the calendars I am using this year. I got my little digital out and made this off the calendar. I thought it most appropriate for pink day.

My new friend for this week is none other than BELLA at "Bella's Rose Cottage". She has not been a part of the blogging family very long. She is a pretty young lady that loves animals, especially dogs. Her website is http://bellasrosecottage.blogspot.com. She has a very nice blog and one you will enjoy visiting. Drop by and say hello to her.

Vintage Thingies Thursday

Thank goodness for another beautiful day at Vintage Thingies Thursday with Coloradolady.

This a lovely tea/coffee set that I was fortunate enough to receive from one of our family estates. It is definitely vintage and probably from the 40s or 50s time frame. The only marking is on the bottom made in Japan.

This beautiful stream picture was taken my neighbor. He graciously sent me the picture. He knows I do Outdoor Wednesday and thought I could use it. To me it is a very calming and peaceful sight.

Blue Monday

There is one thing for sure mother nature paid no attention to this sign. During the last few days, we had two days of spring, no summer, or fall, but a BLUE norther hit. Even had snow last night. No where but Texas could you do this. The wind so strong I had to put rocks in my pockets or blow away. Weather wise, we had a miserable weekend.

My Blue Monday with Smiling Sally today is just plain and simple. If you joined her at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com you will see something of greater interest.

A little blue lantern waiting to be used to light up someone's path.

Something to look forward to.

Pink Saturday

Our gracious hostess, Beverly, is inviting us all to her Pink Saturday viewing. She can be reached at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog.

This is a wreath I saw in an antique mall. You capture pinks wherever you find them.

I spied this cute little teddy in another shopping outing.

I went all the way to Athens, Greece this week for a visit with Vicky. She does great photography work. She features some stunning, amazing scenes on her blog. Take time out and give her a visit at
http://vicky-photoexpression.blogspot.com. You will be glad you did.

Sky Watch Friday

I always look forward to Sky Watch Friday. I feel like I am on an around the world trip.

These clouds kinda reminded me of a jet in flight.

A lovely blazing sight to behold, yet somewhat frightening.

Vintage Thingies Thursday

Welcome to Vintage Thingies Thursday with Coloradolady.

You can be vintage in years, but still young at heart. Back when the Cabbage Kids were the boom, I thought I should have one. Not sure if I wanted it just for me or because it was hard to find and wanted by everyone else. Nevertheless, I bought this little preemie.

Her name is Leslie Jilly and she was born in 1985. She has never left her original box home. Just rested all these years on the top shelf of a closet.

Last weekend while estate sale shopping, I found this little darling. I had never seen one like it, caught my eye, and she was sold. I have as much use for it as a hole in my head. Sometimes, seniors do have their moments.

I researched her on the internet. She is a 1984 vintage Coleco Cabbage Patch Kids large telephone. One site listed it still in the box, unused, rare and priced for $189.95.
The phone stands 13" tall and the phone receiver rests on her arm. It is touch tone and complete with all wires. Works great. It is model 7911 and in very good condition. Another site listed her for $125.00 without the box and slightly used and rare. I paid $25.

Perhaps one day, these will make some little girl happy.

Outdoor Wednesday

Outdoor Wednesday turns out to also be St Patrick's Day. There will be a lot of green to share with Susan, at http://asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com.
I tried to show pictures that had mostly green scenes in them.
