Blue Monday

Sorry, not much blues going on in Texas today.  All we are having the last few days is dark, storm clouds. Regardless, the Blue Monday group will put a lot of bright blues in your day.  Check them out at http://smilingsally.blogspot.com

Spotted this blue building on my recent trip.  No one seems to know exactly what goes on there.  No sign on the building. Some think auto parts are made there.

Pink Saturday

Hello to Beverly and all the pink ladies.  If you are in the pink, this is the place to be.  Check out
http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog for some of the best presentations.

Good thing they had the name on these as I would not have known what they were.  The color caught my eye.

Probably should have used this around Easter, but failed to do so. A pretty, pink cross is always nice to see.

Blooming Tuesday With MeMe

A GLORIOUS SIGHT
These are a few captures of the beautiful sight I saw when I returned from my trip.  My flowers have been very pretty in the past, but nothing compared to now.  Have no idea what made them show off this time. Glad I took these as we had a terrible storm over the weekend and they are kinda sick looking.  Trust they bounce back.

People stop and make pictures of this rose bush. These snapshots do not do justice.

This is yellow rose from Tyler, Texas that I have had several years.  Until this year, it had only one big rose right on top.  Now it is covered.

Blue Monday

Nice being back with Sally and her Blue Monday bunch (http://smilingsally.blogspot.com).  Spent a few days with my sister and her husband in Hernando, Ms.  I try making two trips a year.  One in April for their wedding anniversary.

Flew from Dallas/Ft.Worth to Memphis, TN. April 11 in the early morning hours.

Their anniversary was April 13.
This was made at home at another time.  We did dress better for our outing.

I told them for that many years, they deserved something special.  Suggested they find a nice restaurant and I would treat them. However, it depended on my brother-in-laws health.  It so happened it turned out to be one of his good days.  He has many health issues and gets around in an electric wheelchair.
A well known steak house had built in their area and that is where we had reservations at 5:30 p.m., Monday, April 13. This is the dining area. As soon as the menu was brought to us, I realized just what a really nice place it was.  Figures on the menu were such as I did not understand. Not the normal way of pricing.
This is the dining area.  There were several other couples there when we arrived. My brother-in-law is a big steak eater is another reason we wanted to go there.  I ordered a 6oz filet, as I cannot eat large portions. Brother-in-law ordered something different.  My sister got chicken. Come to find out, if you wanted anything more it was extra.  They ordered a salad.  It turned out to be a very nice.  They both ate it and when their meat arrived, that is all they got. I had my camera, but was in a different frame of mind and failed to make pictures.  I found the following on the internet as an example.

This is similar to my filet when served.  However, it did not have a sauce like this or anything else.  Just a small steak on a large, white china plate. Most nice places I have eaten, the chef puts some fancy swirl or such on the plate.  Not this one.  Since I did not want to eat just meat, ordered a baked potato.
No doubt you are saying what a big potato.  However, the one I got was twice this size.  I was born and raised on a farm and never have I seen such a large potato.  We could have divided it into thirds, but probably gotten thrown out.  It definitely was an experience, but worth it for their sake. One thing that bothered me was they in no way acknowledged their anniversary.  The hostess knew it as well as our waiter.  No mention of it.
All they have been through these 65 years wish I could fill a room with pretty, blue roses for their enjoyment.

Tuesday With MeMe

 Did You Know...

The first blender was used to make milkshakes in 1992.  It was invented by Stephen Poplawski, who had the idea of putting a spinning blade at the bottom of a container that could automatically mix up ingredients.

Giraffes can gallop as fast as a horse. They can also sleep standing up, although they might choose to lean against a tree to do so. These handsome animals live in herds and are found on the plains of East Africa.

The Golden Arrow was a fast car in its day. Only one was made and it broke the land speed record in 1929 in the city of Daytona, Florida.  It hit a speed of 231mph which at the time, was quite a record.

People do not have much to fear when it comes to honeybees, unless they have an allergy to bee stings.  Bees only sting if they feel threatened, unlike yellow jackets and wasps, which are more aggressive.

English author, Agatha Christie, (1890-1976) wrote more then 70 detective novels, as well as short story collections, plays and poems.  Her work has been translated in 100 different languages and her books continue to be popular today.

PINK SATURDAY

Since spring has arrived, saw some of these pretty tulip trees in bloom. Beverly
at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog has so many friends that share the best of pinks each week.
Not sure but think these some type of dried vegetable.
