Vintage Time Book

Welcome to another wonderful Vintage Thingies Thursday with Coloradolady. She makes it possible for us to share great vintage finds from all over the world. Drop in at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com.
I spotted this little time book while browsing trough an antique mall. It appealed to me for more reasons than. It was back during the depression days and when I was born. Take a minute to view the wages he earned. In reality, that was good money back than.

1929
1930
1931

Wow LV, what a little piece of history. A journal of the time worked and their wages. I'm going to show this to my husband, he recently read one his grandfather kept of his family farm. Great find………

What a fabulous find LV! You have a great eye. So fun to read of history in this way. almost as good as if you were talking to the person who filled in the book. And I remember OshKosh overalls.

How fortunate that this has survived all these years! The owner must have been proud of his employment to have saved it.
Thank you for sharing :)

What a great find LV! Yes, he probably thought he was making pretty decent wages back then! And about your comment on my blog, I too remember when out groceries and dry cleaning and bread were delivered to our home. There was even a company called Jewel T, that delivered everything from cleaning supplies to toys. Have a wonderful weekend, Nan

I love such memories, left scribed in the hand of another day. The mileage must indicate a "run" of some sort---perhaps his time on a freight, or even like my Daddy did for quite some time---a "track run" every day for so many miles, to inspect for any damage, loose spikes, obstructions, etc., on a certain distance.

Three dollars and some-odd was a good day's pay for the Thirties---my Grandpa made a dollar-a-day during that time---and that raised two children.

You just find the most interesting and evocative things!

Hope you're well and warm---we've got a couple of inches on the ground, and it's frozen slick.

There is people today( our children) who could not even relate to this.Or believe people lived this way, on so little.

I remember my grandparents talking about wages like this. sometimes working for a dollar a day

this is really a piece of our history
