Vintage Bible

Trust this visit with Coloradolady and her Vintage Thingies Thursday friends goes better than last week. We lost it all, but was fortunate enough to get the post back. I am sorry so many of you took the time to leave comments, that were wiped out. They were appreciated.

This bible was a gift to my mother from one of her dearest friends.

shortly after we were married, our car was stolen. When the car was recovered, the Bible we used for our wedding was gone. I was upset for a long time.

Hello LV,

Although I am not particularly religious, I do have a couple of bibles that I treasure.

They are nowhere near the age of your own, but one, a lovely illustrated version, was given to me at my christening by my godmother (late 1950s) and another by my second godmother on my confirmation, which is white leather and comes paired with a prayer book.

I love looking at old family bibles, which have space provided for the family tree, they are just so interesting.

Good morning dear LV, Last week with blogger messed up was so annoying but all is well thankfully.

I adore your mom's bible and the history it has. Wow, 1923 and you are so lucky to have it as a memory of your mom. No matter how old we are we still miss our mom. We are so lucky to have the kind of childhood that gives us the awesome love we have for our moms. We are blessed in this way.
Have a wonderful day.
Love, Jeanne

LV,
I have a few Bibles that belonged to my grandparents and the handwriting on yours took me right back; it looks the same!
I'll have to dig them out now and show everyone...

I hope someone looks at my Bible someday & calls it "Vintage". I have it all marked up & the pages are torn & falling apart, but I love it. I know where everything is in it. I have bought new ones & use them occasionally, but I always go back to my favorite one.

It's wonderful that you have this Bible. My Dad has the Bible that was given to him in 1924.

What a special treasure! NOt only because it's a Bible, but because of the names and dates in there, showing it was a gift from a friend. (This is the sort of thing that will be lost if everyone goes to those horrid electronic books!)
