Pink Saturday

It is a pleasure to be able to participate in Pink Saturday with Beverly at http://howsweetthesound.typepad.com/my_weblog. Some of you may not know it, but her Pink Saturday will be featured in the May,June,July issue of Art Blogger.

Have you ever seen a climbing lily? Today, you are going to see one.

This adorable little girl's name is Lily. As you can see she loves to climb on everything. Here she is on the kitchen cabinet eating peanut butter.

She has a play kitchen. When her brother found her, she had climbed into the sink. He had to call someone to help get her down.

Last but not least, her mother found her in the cloths dryer. So glad she did not know how to close the door.

SHE IS ALSO VERY GOOD AT CLIMBING INTO YOUR HEART.

If you have not been by Olivia's blog, you are missing out. She is a small town lady that is content with her blessings. I enjoy going to flea markets. She has two booths. I would love to be able to visit them. You can visit her at http://shabbychictreasures.blogspot.com. I am happy to add her to my list of blogging friends.

REMEMBER, for those of you that missed my Wednesday. April 28 post, I am doing my first giveaway. Just scroll down and leave a comment. May 2nd last day to enter if you are interested.

Vintage Thingies Thursday

My Vintage Thursday feature with Coloradolady and her friends is some of my crochet pieces.

This beautiful piece is not vintage. I just received this last week from a very thoughtful, kind blogging friend. She is none other than Charlotte at http://yardsalesandcrochet.blogspot.com. Her choice of colors and pattern are perfect for me. I was so surprised and pleased. Thank you again Charlotte. If you have not visited her blog, you are missing something special. Take time out and say hello.

I have no idea how old these are. I just recently acquired them from the estate of my late husband's sister (84). She had them displayed for years. They mixed sugar and water for their starch. In case some of you wish to try it, this is the recipe:

SUGAR STARCH

Old fashioned starch used for lacy crochet doilies.
1/4 cup water
3/4 cup granulated sugar
Mix water ans sugar in small pan. Stir over low heat until clear and not sugary. Let cool. Wet the doily. Roll in a towel to remove excess moisture and dip into the mixture. Squeeze out excess starch, then shape doily. Do not need to iron when using this starch. Just smooth out and shape while wet on a clear flat surface.

Years ago, this style furniture was very popular. Most of it was a blond finish rather than dark like this example.

This is a three piece vanity dresser set. They were made to be used on this style dresser.

Anytime I see crochet pieces, I want it. Bear in mind, I do not crochet, but love what others do. In the future, I will have some of my vintage embroidery work.

AT MEME's CORNER

Thoughts From MEME's Corner has been in the blogging family one year today. Time does fly when you are having fun. I have truly had fun for the past year. What a joy it has been. Miracles do happen, For the first time in my life, used a digital camera. Now I am addicted to it. By mistake, just this past week, I learned how to video with it.

Where else could I have made so many friends and seen so much around the world except at Bloggerville. I thank all of you for your kindness and help in this endeavor. Vintage Thingies Thursday

This to be an odd and end day for Vintage Thingies Thursday. However, if you join Coloradolady and her many, many friends you will see some greater sights.

These two little Pyrex refrigerator bowls go a long way back. They are either from the 40s or 50s time frame. I was fortunate enough to get them from my mother-in-laws estate.

This little button speaks for itself.

As for this button, I have no idea what it represents or why I have it. I am assuming it had something to do with a drilling company. Odd how we have some things.

Vintage Thingies Thursday

I will be out of town (4-15 through 4-20)when you are reading this. I regret not being here to acknowledge your comments. Just know they are appreciated.

This is a little snap open, two part coin purse. All my dad's life he carried this type coin purse. He never wanted a nice billfold. He went through several during his lifetime. This is the last one he was using when he passed away in 1987 at the age of 81. Back in those day, he had little money, so this worked fine for him.

Put your money on Coloradolady if you want to have a good time and see some of the best Vintage Thingies ever.

This is an old cane bottom chair. Except in this case, they used vintage men ties to cover the seat. What will they think of next!

ATTENTION:

Be sure to mark you calendars for a special edition blog at my place on Wednesday, April 28th. You do not want to miss it!
