Vintage Variety Pack

Vintage Thingies Thursdays with Coloradolady has arrived again. These days are clicking off much too fast for me. I do look forward to vintage day as it awakens a lot of memories for me.

This a vintage all metal bottle/can opener. The marking on the back is CMI APP MOD-Vaughn No. 56. This has been in my home for many years. It came from the estate of one of the family members. How many have you seen with black and white pearls.

This little fellow was spotted in an antique mall. I thought at first it was some type meat grinder. Trust me it is not. In case you do not know either, it is a vintage cast iron tobacco grinder. I had never seen one.

The MORTON Umbrella Girl has shown the salt pouring in wet weather since she first appeared on the box in 1914. This is a metal sign of her I saw in an antique mall. Through the years, several updates have been made in her hair and clothing, but the basic trademark has remained.

I love your collections... especially the Morton's Salt girl. I used to have a collection of this cute little girl.. glasses, tins, etc., but sadly lost it all in a fire years ago. I always wanted a little yellow hair, pig-tailed daughter... got three sons instead.. but would not trade them.
Thanks for the memories!

It's always fun to see your collections.
That's quite a fancy bottle opener, the first I've ever seen with pearls.
I just bought some Morton's Salt today!

I have a lot of old openers because I used to collect them. I haven't seen decorated ones before.

I love how Morton Salt has kept their cute logo.

But that can opener with pearls? That's a new one to me.

What a pretty can opener LV! I have never seen one decorated like that - I've only seen old boring ones with writing or animal head shaped handles, but never ever one with Pearls! I'd be to scared to use it :)

I never realized before that the image had changed over the years so that was good to learn. Never saw a bottle opener like that nor a tobacco grinder either. Boy the things you see in antique shops LOL

I've definitely never seen a can opener with pearls! I guess this one is meant to be more than just functional.

I like to collect tins and tin signs. Some are old, some are new.

I've never seen a cast iron tobacco grinder before. Neither have I seen such a fancy can opener. But I remember the early versions of the Morton's label you shared.

Thanks for sharing! As someone commented 'bling' on a bottle opener! WOW. Wonder if the tobacco grinder was for cigarettes or chewing tobacco? When I see Morton's little girl I always think of Gene Kelly in 'Singing in the Rain'. :)
